Outside spray hose

Our 2012 Grey Wolf 26BH does not have an outdoor shower or any way to get water from the outside of the camper (other than the low point drains). So after seeing the outside spray hose on my cousins 2012 Dutchman Kodiak I am brain storming ways to create one. I am looking for cold water only, we will probably only use it for getting the dogs water and hosing our DD off before she tracks sand and such into the camper like she does now.

Has anyone ever done anything like this?

My idea is to hook up to the pressurized side of the low point drains, take the valve off and up a T in then move the valve to the bottom of the T. Then off the side of the T run a water line out to what ever point we decide is best, at the end of the water line put on a female air hose coupler so I can disconnect the hose. For the hose I was thinking of using a self coiling air hose with the appropriate fittings so I can put a standard spray nozzle on.

Any input would be great!

If you have Pex tubing it's a simple matter of cutting in a Shark Bite tee. With a standard reducer (at Home Depot for example) tie in a standard $15 sink sprayer. I did this with a sprayer behind the toilet for cleaning and the whole process took less than 30 minutes. I mount it on a standard shower head holder.

Maybe you can find a location near any cold water line and mount it in a box installed on the exterior. I've seen boxes with doors for power wires for example on PPL RV parts site. The rest is Home Depot.

For that matter, the regular exterior showers with head, valves and box aren't very expensive if you have a place to put it.

Anywhere you have H&C plumbing running reasonably close to an outside wall, installing an outside shower should be relatively easy. The plumbing fittings are VERY inexpensive if you avoid the overpriced "sharkbite" fittings, and you can rent the crimp tool necessary from Home Depot or Lowe's (or even PURCHASE it outright, for the cost of a few sharkbite fittings!

Thanks for the input, I looked once at maybe putting a full outside shower in but I couldn't find a good spot to place it that would work well for the water lines. I have a good buddy who is a master plumber, maybe I will have him come over and see what he thinks.

A self-coiling water hose with a nozzle can be purchased at Target for less than $20. It is likely cheaper than the air hose and fittings.

I have the air hose and hopefully about 90% of the fittings in my garage just collecting dust. That is the reason I was thing going that route, I might as well put the stuff to use.

I had thought of that, all the fittings are brass or stainless including the "air" fittings that I am going to use. Since is so damn hot here this week I won't have it done before we leave for the weekend, but I am planning on working on it as soon as I can find the time. I will post some pics when I get it done.

good! I've never seen SS fittings. Lucky you! I've been thinking of the same mod, but it's low on the "list"

I have to say you might be happier with this route. Or trailer came with am outside shower. Bit we still carry one of these. I run it off a wye fitting at the campground water source for full pursue high flow water. Great for hosing off kids, dogs etc.

If we are at a CG that has water to the site then I hook in a T and run 2 hoses, one for the camper and.the other for spraying off. But of the 17 or so nights that we have be camping this year only 5 we have had water to the site, all the others are at county CGs where you have to fill up the tank before we go.

The whole reason I am doing this is to try and keep as much sand out of the camper as possible since my 4 y.o. DD usually finds a way to be covered from neck down.

As for the SS fittings, I have a good buddy who is a master plumber and owns his own company, I got the fittings from him. I don't know what they were actually from or why he had them, but they will work great for me, hopefully...

Please get us some pics. I just bought an '08 Vortex toy hauler for deer camp, and would love to have a sprayer like that. I have one on the Sandpiper and want one on the Vortex. Now that you've explained what you were doing. doesn't seem all that difficult! I hope I'm right!
