Plank Storage Mod

Has anyone built a storage box for the leveling planks? I have a few large 2x8's that i use to level my trailer with and would like to find a way to put them in storage under the trailer while travelling or not in use, instead of having them in my compartment or back of the truck.

Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks

I used to use planks, I had a set of three that were adjustable from 3/4 to 4 1/4 inches. While they worked for me they were heavy and the bottom plank was about 48 inches long. I have since switched to the Lego style from walmart that come in a bag like those mentioned above.

Yep, totting the wood is a waste of "poundage" that can be used for other, more useful stuff. Beer, maybe?

I put my boards in a milk crate. Haven't convinced myself I need legos yet.

If I were to do it, I would bolt a light weight frame to the side of the trailer frame incorporating the those angled gussets that support the floor and walls.
Also, a couple pieces of angle stock can be mounted on the bumper with square U bolts.

Wood becomes wet and dirty and will eventuAlly rot. we have 3 sets of Lego blocks. They're easy to store and easy to clean and will last forever

The wood isn't going to rot for the 30 more years I'll be alive.. but ok, "eventually" as you said.

I use to always carry 3 2X10's about 42" long in our old hybrid, since the storage was so small about all I could fit was the poles for the fold down beds and the planks. But when we got our Grey Wolf I decided to try something different, I moved the battery all the way over to one side in the angle iron supports. I put pieces of wood, 2-2X4 2-4X6 and 1 6X6 (the 6X6 goes under the tongue jack) that I cut to length and secure with a bungee cord. The wood is mostly used for under the stabilizers, but if I only need about 1.5" I will use the 2X4's under the tires. Otherwise I bought a couple packs of Lynx Levelers, that I use under the tires most of the time. But after cracking one of the blocks on a rock, I now always place the blocks on a 8"x42" piece of rubber conveyor belting, plus the belting keeps the dirt and rocks out of the blocks.

The "Legos" are light and work well, mostly. They will crack or break if not totally in contact with the ground. Using 2xanything works, and is ok. Better is "stall mats" from Tractor Supply. They are big enough to get many pieces for leveling, thick enough to provide 3/4" leveling and great for a base to place the "Legos". So a combo of the "Legos" and the stall mats might be the best.

because a majority of our camping in NOT on an improved surface, I have to use planks of laminated plywood. in other words, Lego's would sink in the dirt, or break on the course rocks. thick plywood planks, or scrap construction lumber works for me and its free!

To prevent them sinking and breaking, put a plank down and the use the legos.

if I have to carry planks, I might as well use them. whats one or two more in addition.

Once, I helped another camper who forgot his blocks. Just gave him some planks and said keep 'em. wouldn't do that with Lego blocks!

I think the Legos are neat, and I might even buy a set if I find them really cheap.

Someone gave me a set of the Lego style blocks but I've never used them. I've always used planks. Then again the set that was given to me was not a new set for a gift either it was a used set the guy "no longer needed" but still had a camper. I'm guessing he didn't like them or something.
