plug from trailer to tow vehicle

Not sure what to call the thing but it's the round plug on the trailer that plugs into the tow vehicle so you have lights on the trailer while driving. Now that I've got that out of the way...my question is:

Is there anything on the market that I can attach to my trailer that the plug can be pluged into when not in use so it is kept out of the weather?

I take my plug and l set it under the cover for the LP tanks and that keeps it dry and safe from the weather.

I have a electric front jack. I put a plastic pail over the jack to keep the rain off it. I hook the safety chains to the handle of the pail and store the 7 way plug under the pail.

I just hang my plug over the trailer frame so the electrical prongs are facing down....that will keep the rain out.

I like the suggestions. I used to use a piece of foil but that wasn't so wise since water was able to creep in and stay. It wouldn't suprise me if the foil idea is bad for other reasons too.

I know they sell covers for electric jacks but I like Caper idea of using the hooks to keep the pail in place especially since the cost is much less and you can use the pail for other uses when not in place.

I wrap mine around the jack and hang it down.

My trailer plug is "female" so I put electrical tape over all the pin connections. Then I hang it over the frame so it is facing down. I like the idea of the bucket also for the tongue jack and could stick the plug up underneath that.

Go to your local auto yard and get a 7 pin connector off of another vehicle. I mounted that to my tongue and wired the 12 v to the running lights ( I know many don't like that but we love the lighting around the TT at night, rarely are we in an RV park). The wiring has an inline fuse and a switch. I just unplug from the TV and plug into the connector on the tongue. In the evening flip the switch and you have lights. On the last trip in flip the switch off and go to bed

I have plans to make it better and cleaner but I will save that until it's done.
