Pro-pride hitch install
Money well spent! Not wanting to be disappointed with another set-up after doing lots of researched we bought the propride hitch with 1400# bars. We tow with both a Duramax 3500 and a expedition EL. We towed it back from the dealer after purchase with the one ton and without any sway control found it required a good amount of steering input to keep it between the lines. After we installed the propride it's a stress free tow in either the one ton pick up or 1/2 ton SUV. My loaded hitch weight is 840# with the hitch and without it loaded was close to 650#.

Looks good. We were able to get one used for $1300, but I probably would have spent the extra $$ on a new one if I had to. Question - looks like you have your stinger tilted up. I'm wondering if that is intentional. Reason I ask is I'm having a hard time getting enough weight distribution to front axle. Does that tilt help you get more weight shift?

The stinger should be level or pointed down towards the trailer slightly
Adding washers increases the tilt which gives more weight transfer
I used 6 1/2 inches of jack height with no washers. After adding 2 washers 5 1/2 inches of jack height gets my front fenders to stock height

Thanks! Wish this were clearer in the install instructions. That is honestly my only complaint with the unit at all.

That is an interesting design. It looks like the ball hangs lower and then the trailer somehow comes down as well. It is hard to see how it hooks up with all the black paint. So is the hitch a U shape? Something just looks a bit off to me.

What does Pro-Pride say the goal is for the (Torsion Bars to Frame Parallel)? I see both of these Pics. are Very different! Youroo!!

I sent a few pictures to the owner of pro pride. I believe his name is Shawn. He said the set up looked fine to him. To get bars level with the frame I would have to add a lot of washers to the stinger. This would make the stinger tilt to much and I wouldn't be able to put it into the hitch. He said its a balancing act you have to play with.

My ProPride came in the mail yesterday, can't wait to install it! Was surprised by the number and weight of the boxes they came in, but so happy its here. In the process of moving, but that should be done by this weekend then its time to spend some time "upgrading" my toys. Got a back rack and hard tonneau cover for the truck, ProPride for the truck & Camper, brush guard for front of truck. And going to install some lights on the brush guard and back rack for extra light in the rear when needed. Next items on my list are a tire pressure monitoring system for the trailer and would like to find a good rear view cam for trailer, wireless if possible. Its my first trailer, and looks like its going to turn into an expensive hobby/lifestyle!

I decided I did not like the jacks to pull up on the weight bars, mine actually tilted over, twice. I decided to just use conventional chains and chain hooks that I had from another hitch. Makes the hitch on the trailer look cleaner too with the jacks poking up on both sides. Anyhow, other than that, the propride hitch works great. Makes pulling much more comfortable as passing trucks don't make me have to steer back and forth as they pass like with conventional hitches.

We purchased the propride hitch and had numerous issues with the jacks tilting and bending the "U" bolts that hold them in place. Did you say that you replaced the jacks with conventional chains and chain hooks? If so, would you be willing to send a picture of your set up?
