Protecting the Surge Protector

Should I be concerned with rain/condensation where the 2 plugs meet?

Never had a problem with mine. If you are concerned you could always give the connection a couple wraps with Saran Wrap to keep the rain out.

Yep, like the others said, you should be alright. Just make sure you're plugged all the way in and don't leave any gaps and water shouldn't be able to get in there. They have a pretty decent seal.

Sometimes I have to lay my plug end on the ground due to the height of the pedestal. When I do that I will lay it on a board to keep it off the ground, grass is the worst, and also cut a zip lock bag and put it around the exposed plug end, so it still can breath without creating condensation. Water and electric do not mix well. The unit itself is water Resistant but not water proof. But that doesn't include your plug ends.

I have a plastic box that locks my surge protector to my extension cord to prevent theft and also helps (just a little) to keep the rain off of it.
