Exclamation And The Answer Is....

It's a computer desk for my truck. See, Greg was really close! Take a look at the first picture...the big "tabs" or "ears" on either side slide down between the center "seat" and the driver and passenger seat on either side. Then the "mystery hook" anchors the desk in place via the seat belt. The hook is offset because of where the seat belt buckel wind up when all the slack is taken out of the belt.

The three sided wall on top is there to make a place for maps, guides, pencils and such. Once the desk was delivered I realized I could have moved that back toward the hook and had more storage space. That's the one design change I would have made.

I'll post a demensioned drawing under another thread. By making your own measurements a good metal shop can whip you one up.

Thanks for playing along! It sure was fun...and the collective imagination of this forum is something to behold!

so, you log into the forum from your truck?
And I thought cell phone users were a danger to others...

Only if certain conditions are met:

1. I'm on at least one cell phone
2. I'm towing overloaded
3. It's raining
4. I'm doing at least 80 mph
5. My construction grade generator is running.

Then I log into a couple of forums and play online poker while listening to a baseball game and reading the paper.

Just kidding about the generator.

I think.... I'm just guessing here... but it looks like some kind of computer stand for your truck. Post #42? No I didn't look at post #42... Why, am I right? Really I didn't read post #42. Really! It was that seat belt hook that was the giveaway for me... No I DID NOT READ POST #42!!!!

OK I did read post #42. I had no friggin idea what it was. Was just hoping it bounced well so when Greg beaned it off your head, I'd get the rebound for a second shot.

Neat though.

That's really cool, Radio. Just one question... I don't have a laptop so can it be modified to mount my CPU, 19" flatscreen monitor, printer and scanner?? Oh... I also need a place to mount an inverter to handle all the above.

Mount the monitor and keyboard the desk, put the rest under the seat. You might have to ride with the sunroof open...
