Quad step upgrade

My wife has bad knees and it is becoming difficult for her to navigate the 9" rise triple steps. It looks like there are several quad steps available that would bolt into the current outriggers on my Wildwood.

Can anyone recommend a good brand that is sturdy? I see that some users complain about the flexibility of their steps.

Regarding stability of steps OldCoot has a mod which solves this issue.

That's all well and good, but why would I buy a step that has to be modified to work properly?

I think what Flying dutchman meant was that OC and Herk and probably a few others had developed some ways to firm up the steps on their existing factory installed trailers - not an aftermarket installed option.

As to your original question - Lippert made the steps that are on your trailer. If you are happy with their quality you might as wlel go with them again.

My steps are made by Hickory Springs. Is that a part of Lippert?

looks like Hickory Springs does not make a 4 step model, they do have a lower profile 3 step model. If you want a 4 step model you will need to look at other brands. Lippert is pretty common (which is why I assumed those were OEM for your trailer, they are for mine).

Actually they do. I have no problem with my HS tripple step, so I will probably go with thrm.

I just installed Stromberg Carlson Manual Pull-Out Steps for RVs - Quad - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 750 lbs that I purchased from etrailer.com and I could not be happier. I replaced the standard 3 Steps on our new 2014 Forest River Cardinal, model 3850RL and it could not have been easier. I removed four carriage bolts and two self tapping bolts and lowered the unit with a jack. I raised the new steps using the same process and the bolts aligned perfectly. The carriage bolt holes were exactly the same and the same bolts went in with no problem. The only tools I used were a ratchet set, the jack with a board to hold the steps, and an electric drill to reinstall the self tapping bolts. The only challenge was breaking the carriage bolt nuts loose, needed a short cheater bar. Start to finish was less than 45 minutes. By the way, my wife is very happy with the new steps.

I was looking at these steps too, however, I noticed the width to be 27.75" at the sides (mounting holes) My Cedar Creek is measuring 27". Do you know what your Cardinal measures between the mounting brackets? Thanks in advance... Don't think I can squeeze 27.75 in a 27 hole

The width of my Cardinal 3850 is 37.75 inches. I can't see how you could make it work without modifications I did not have to deal with.
