Question about cameras and reversible image for looking back

I am getting ready to put some cameras on the trailer and tow vehicle and have a question about cameras specifically. Is it an option with cameras to be able to reverse the image so if you use it to look back it acts like a mirror and flips the left and right? I have looked at specs on some cameras and can't find any info about reversing the view. I see specific cameras made for looking back and it says the image is reversed for this reason, but in general I can't find cameras that say it is reversible for either type of use. Maybe a simple switch on the camera that reverses the view. Or even software driven options.

I think it's a device option.Just depends. On mine it doesn't look right if you just look at the monitor.I mounted my receiver in a suction phone mount. In the back window of the truck.I just look in the rear view mirror.Works for me.Wish mine was reversible, but now I have one less thing on or around the dash.I look in the mirror anyway as a habit.

I have a peak camera that this is done with, but a real cheap camera. I acquired a Voyager camera system for when I am towing my small trailer behind the fifth wheel, I love this camera. I am not sure if you can flip the view or not.

Some cameras will have a switch, some will have a green wire that you clip. Read the description carefully. In the name of the camera it may say backup but if in the description it does not specify mirror image it will not. I know as I have four I can sell you.

In addition to the camera some monitors will mirror the image so you could use a normal camera. The Peak system someone else wrote about does it that way.

Thanks guys, good info. I already have the display, one that hooks over the mirror and can show 1,2, or 3 cameras at once. A nifty little deal. It does not mirror image that's why I want to be sure I get the correct cameras. Soon I'll be diggin' deep into Google land for the proper cameras.

A friend used a regular computer camera in his trailer. He mounted it below the rear window looking upwards at a mirror mounted at 45 degrees just above the window. He got a "real" mirror image and didn't need an outdoor, weather proff camera.
