So the manufacturer does not know what they are talking about and your going to put something on the bumper anyways? Good luck, but when your frame cracks because it is an ultralight trailer don't blame FR.

Lol you'll get plenty of opinions !
1. Those whom have done it and had a disastrous attempt.
2. Those whom have done it and haven't had a problem "yet"
3. Those whom haven't done it but have plenty of ideas how to do it.

Bad idea. The bumper is not capable of supporting them while traveling. Also next time you are behind someone with bikes etc on a rack mounted to the rear bumper see what kind of a ride anything mounted there has.

If you decide to do it anyway, let me know what roads you travel as I want to follow you, I could use a couple of new, slightly scratched generators.

Don't do it! Been there, done that. I was lucky and didn't end up hurting someone behind me. How lucky do you feel?

Was thinking of altering the rear bumper myself and having a pro welder make a custom bumper and rack. What's holding me back is where I store it as I can't afford an additional 2-3 ft added. For now I have been putting my wood totes in my unit in the bathroom from the back door.

I had a Dutchmen Kodiak 24' trailer and took it to a machine shop where a welder fabricated a receiver hitch that attached to the frame. While he was at it, he also added welds to strengthen the bumper. To that receiver hitch I carried a "GearDeck17" Youtube for GearDeck here. In it I put my Generator and grill. Worked great. Now I have a fifth wheel and plan to put it back there.

Your Dutchman Kodiak was not an ultra light travel trailer with a fabricated I beam frame was it?
And neither is your 5th wheel.

The Dutchman Kodiak is a ultralight weight trailer. It has real I beams not made of three pieces of metal welded together. (I was just shopping for one). But I still think it is a bad idea to but a rack off the rear bumper.

It's a 2013 Kodiak 242RESL with an aluminum i-beam. The fifth wheel is a 2016 Wildcat 295rsx with a BAL frame. The Wildcat came with the factory provided fold-up storage deck at the back. That deck is attached to frame extensions and is rated at 300 pounds.

My GearDeck's cargo box is 25#, the receiver frame is 50# but for the fifth wheel I will just be attaching the cargo box to the factory foldup deck. My generator weighs 86# and my grill weighs 23#. Sometimes I put gas cans in there and an occasional folding chair or two. With 17 cubic feet of storage, I never get over a couple of hundred pounds.

Gear Deck 17 Tech Specs

Check out the youtube video above. Also, I can't stress enough how important a good welder and fabricator was for me. I never used the bumper but I probably could have after he got thru finishing what the factory should have done. By the way, this is an expensive solution GearDeck17 $1100 plus fabricate/weld $350.

Our 2006 Kokiak was supposedly an ultra light also and did have a real I beam, but it was a light wt I beam.

Don't do it!!! My RV dealer brought me into the service bay to show me a standard trailer bumper that had a bike rack on it. The bumper was still attached but was twisted like a twister licorice. Unbelievable it never tore off.

What you have and the OP has is 2 entirely different trailers. Yours came from the factory with the rack, the OPs came with a warning sticker. Big difference.
