Refrigerator Fan EBay
Just tried the new Ebay Refrig. fan. It won't shut off unless I take the fan off the cooling fins, breaking the ground con.
Has anyone hooked up one that will work like a factory fan, Door open fan OFF, Door closed fan ON. Refer control in off position fan off.
The refer is a Norcold N81X in a 2012 Rockwood Sig LT 8315.
Thanks for the help...

Thats the way its designed to work......you could wire in a relay to make it work that way.
For the record, mine runs all the time and works great.

What i meant to say was you could wire in a relay to make it function the way you wish.....
Why do you want the fan to stop while you open door?... are you worried about losing cooling from fans ?just qurious

I think you would need to install some sort of door switch for the fan control you desire that is powered through the refer power circuit. Good luck

Same here. Works all the time the fridge is on. Why would you want it off?

You could put a relay off the light switch. But I also just have mine all the time the fridge is on.

The install instructions state to wire it to a constant 12v power, however the fan will stay on even with the refrig off. The install instructions state to upclip it from the refig cooling fins to break the ground.
On the refrig and the freezer at home when the door is open the fan is controled by a temp limit sw. When the refrig is turned off the fan is off.
I guess I need to follow up the DW at the end of the trip to make sure the fan is unclipped so it is off...
Thanks for the replies.

Much easier to get a small toggle switch, no pain, no strain and you don't have to do any unhooking of the clip on the fins.

If your's is like mine, if you hold the door open for about 15-20 secs, the light will automatically go off. You have to find a constant source of power.

Same here...fan runs all the time while fridge is on, then shuts off when i hit the off button on top.....no need to unclip ground.
Either way, the fan mod is great and makes a difference!

Same here papap & ironj. I've had mine for years now and it's worked that way from day one. Power wire to the hot side of the light switch. As you both stated turn the fridge off and the fan goes off as well. No need to disconnect anything.
