I just bought a handful of 18-VDC lighted switches from AllElectronics for fifty cents apiece! They work well on 12-VDC, plenty of light and fit right into the F/R panels, but are only 8-Amps.
Made in France! Who'd a thunk!

Since I already had the roof-top cover and pedestal off to replace them anyway, I mounted these fans from All Electronics down in my reefer's "chimney", right above the finned coils:
12VDC FOUR-FAN ASSEMBLY | AllElectronics.com (new item)
I mounted a rocker switch high inside the above-stove cabinet to turn them off on cooler days.
They keep the top shelf inside at 37 degrees on a 95-degree day here in SoCal, and they're pretty quiet, too!
I can provide mediocre photos if desired.

Just what I plan to do when I get all those dern
windows sealed. Ya beat me to it!!
Gonna control them with a pair of D.P.D.T., center-off
switches so I can run one fan, two fans, three fans, or
four fans. Maybe can match the temperature/sound level
to ambient conditions.......ie Red hot Texas summer / cool
winter.....
[Maybe next year will make a speed controller using a
thermistor epoxied to the condenser coils to sense how
fast the fans need to run....If I get bored next winter...]

4 fans that produce 32 cfm? Running only one would give you 8cfm. I don't think it will be worth the effort to put in a switch to control the fans individually. The single fan I posted a link to puts out 72cfm and is QUIET...

We have both given links to fans that one can use.
Which a person chooses will depend on their needs.
Let's let 'em make their choices without trying to
impose our own choices. After all, we cannot know
the physical enviournment of their reefer "chimney".
And we sure as heck cannot know what their idea of
"quiet" might be. Some folks will have very acute
hearing and some darn near deaf. My idea of quiet
and your idea of quiet simple are not appropriate.

PS As you suggested earlier, reading the specs
for the four fan assembly shows 48CFM, not 8 CFM
for *EACH* fan. A total of 192 CFM with all 4 running.
Not too shabby.....if that's what you need.

After reading your edit I'm not sure what I was looking at but you are correct... 48cfm per fan is great! CFM was my main concern, but with a total of 192 cfm a switch to control each fan makes sense. Lower ambiant temps would let you use fewer fans. I was never abdicating that MY fan was the ONLY answer and after seeing a 192cfm, 4 fan setup for that price, I would have to say it would be an excellent choice where the space allows it.

Yeah.
30 years as a design engineer pounded into my head - many
times - that _everything_ is a compromise / tradeoff. In this case,
the main variables are price, airflow, size, power and sound level.
There are likely many acceptable combinations depending
which of these are important and which are less so. Everyone
will likely want a different ordering of the factors.......
I always remember the poster that some engrs would put
above their desk:
++++++++++++++++++++
GOOD
FAST
CHEAP
Pick any two.
++++++++++++++++++++

I have lived life with that credo (along with some others). It sure is true!
I considered using a rotary switch and a diode matrix to individually control the gang, but decided to go with simplicity: all or nothing.
I guess it had something to do with a transition from the analog world to the digital.
You supply the skiz and I may consider duplicating that controller!
Mama stayed very happy with her 'fridge temps this past weekend, where it got to just 100* on the hi-dez in Victorville, with low humidity.
