Nice addition, our stove came with a cover that lifts up. I like yours better. May just have to add that to our cover. Only problem is the cover hinges.

this is the cover I made for the stove top and it doubles as a cutting board

I like that quick fix idea. We are looking to do something on our 353LS when it arrives, the factory wall coving just doesn't do it for us. I was thinking wall tile, but this may be another route to look into going.
