Replaced Locks

Last year when we pick up our 22DSX, I was shocked to learn I needed six keys. There were three for the four bar locks on the bunk ends, one for the door, one for the outside shower, and of course one for the outside storage cam locks. I jingled like Santa's Reindeer carrying around all those keys.

This spring I found and was able to order new bar locks to match up with the GlobalLink bar locks (two actually shared a common key), a replacement door lock and cam locks all keyed to a single GlobalLink code. Now I'm down to a single key for all lock, and the jingle is gone. Ready for the first trip of the year as soon as school is out tomorrow.

Congrats dotsonjc! That is truly worth celebrating. Our new rig came with 4 keys - one for the two slam latch compartments, one for the rest of the compartments (the famous CH751), one for the front door, and one for the back door. Why the two people doors need different locks is a mystery - they are the same Fastec (FIC) door locks. Why not key them the same? I will end up buying a new lock for the back door from Fastec with the same key as the front door to drop one of the four keys.

The slam latches are made by one manufacturer (Southco) and the lock system they use is pretty hard to find a core removal key. So I purchased some ACE tubular key locks from Fort CompX. These are great replacements, you can get them keyed alike, and they come in different lengths - 1-1/2" for the thicker outside kitchen compartment door, and 1-1/8" for the rest of the compartment doors.

Wish we could get more days in, but the season is pretty short where we live. Enjoy the 1-key rig!
