replacing omni direction tv ant. on crusader

The jensen omni directional antenna has to go. The ease of use is nice but it just doesn't work as good as the crank up winguard. Is installation as easy as removing the old antenna, drilling the hole for the crank, reconnecting the power/coax and mounting the new antenna?

I thought about adding a batwing but didn't really want to add another hole in the roof. My tt came with a Legend tv, which I had never heard of before. I don't know what made me think about trying a different tv, but I took the one from the bedroom in my house and tried it. Where I was receiving 3 or 4 channels in my driveway with the Legend, I received 12 with the tv from my house. So I went to wal-mart and picked up a 26" Vizio and I now receive 11 channels.
It's still not as good as the batwing. Some of the channels don't pull in very well, but I can live with it and it's better than adding another hole in the roof.

I agree the tuner on these legend tv's is horrible. We already have a 19" vizio in the bedroom and we do pick up way more stations with it but the antenna could stand much improvement. Thinking back to old TT which came with a 27" vizio and the wineguard antenna. We could sometimes get more/clearer channels on antenna than cable. Now at those same campgrounds we hardly get any channels without continuous freezing/blue screen.

This seems to be similar to the Jensen antennaes that we have. One difference is ours are omni directional, so we do not have to rotate the antenna.

Our problem is they don't receive as many channels as the batwing style nor do the channels that we do receive come in as well.

Do you notice any adverse differences in reception with the Jack compared to the batwing style antenna?

Been surfing and pricing antennas, going with the winegard sensar iv.. I understand the amp needs 12v. Do the winegards need 12v to the switch like the jensen or do they need 12v to the roof?

OK, been doing some research on antenna's. Think I'm going with the Jack TV OA 8200. Scattered mixed reviews I can find on the web tell me it works about the same as a winguard. I don't think I can use a winguard because of the location of my Junksen antenna and I have no desire to relocate it. It's right between my A/C and rear vent. This won't allow me enough room to lay the winguard down while in transit. I called Jack TV to get some answers about how it mounts. I told him it would have to be mounted on the sloped part of the roof, he said it shouldn't be a problem although level would be best. He said they are in the process of designing wedges like Winguard sell but doesn't have a date for when they'll be ready. I could always add them later. Not too crazy about drilling a 2" hole in my roof but it is what it is I did see a new 320 RLT at the dealer today. . Noticed right away it had a Winguard mounted on the roof above the bedroom...hmmmm

I saw a Jack antenna at my dealers for $144. Asked about it, but the service manage I usually deal with was off today.
If I decide to get one, I'm hoping I can remove the Jensen and put the Jack in it's place. I may have to do some minor renovation inside the tt to make it work.
Did you happen to ask if the Jack could be mounted where the existing Jensen is? Or is a new location the best way to go?

It mounted right where the Jensen was. I posted some pics in a new thread.
