Replacing steps

Has anyone ever replaced their manual fold 3 step setup with a 4 step unit. Looking at my Sabre 33CKTS it looks like an easy swap but didn't know if there was any hidden dangers I'm not seeing.

Don't know if this will help you or not. I have a 2015 Wildcat 282RKX. The 2015's were to come with a 4 step entry, but mine came through with only 3 (probably right at the 2014/2015 change over). While at Goshen this year I made out a repair request to change from 3 to 4 steps.

The Wildcat crew brought a 4 step version and I think it was either 6 or 8 bolts later I had a 4 step entry. It was all plug and play. It really helps with my 61 year old knees. My wife also is very happy with the change.

Good luck, you'll like the improvement.

I replaced both of my 3 step units with quad steps on my 2012 Sierra 365saq. It wasn't hard at all. I bought Stromberg Carlson quad steps from etrailer.com. I liked those because the steps had a radius like the original ones, and they had the antiskid material on them as well. If you search the forum for my screen name and steps, I am sure you can find pics I posted. I will look as well and respond again with the link if I can. I has to cut the skirting on my trailer just a little, maybe 1/4" on each side of the stairs, tin snips worked great. The upper bolts (which on my unit come through the finished floor, so all you see is threads matched up just fine. The back braces though, I had to drill out. I didn't drill the farm, I drilled the steps to match the holes. Worked just fine.

Here are two threads I posted in. One I was asking some questions, and explaining some research I did. The other is a link of some mods I did, and one of the pictures shows the steps. My original steps were Hickery Springs.
