Roof vent lids

Anyone know of a good quality lid for standard roof vents? After two years in the California sun, all three have turned as brittle as potato chips. I even lost most of one on my last trip.

It's prolly worth getting a vent cover from Camping World once you replace the broken lid. Maybe something like a this.

The vent lids are all prone to sun damage. I agree with the idea of Vent Covers over the lids. Amazon has some of the better prices. I just ordered them for our new Wildcat and had them on our National Pacifica coach for years. They also add the benefit of being able to leave your vents open during rainy weather for fresh air flow though out the RV.

Don't forget to remeasure the height of your fifth wheel after you add the new covers. Depending on the location of the vents the new covers can add quite a bit of extra height.

This is true. The covers will add some height, it usually still not going to be any higher than your roof a/c. But, that is not always true. So I would measure once for good measure and twice for safety.

One of ours got so brittle it broke after only about 2 years. Had 2 replaced for about $35 each and had covers installed for about $25 each. (at an RV Sales and Repair lot - not at Camping World)

Not much more than a full height AC.

Some people have painted them with uv resistant paint. They say it works great.
