RV Bubble Level for Fifth Wheels

When you guys install your permanent level to your rig, do you do it with the slides in or out?

In the past I've always established level with the slides in, any difference doing it otherwise?

Also, do you screw mount into the fiberglass front cap area or using a bracket to screw on the underside? Our unit will have the pinbox shroud cover, not sure if that's the best place to screw and mount the bracket?

Here's how I mounted mine. 1/8" thick alum plate screwed to the bottom of the cap and the level is pop riveted to the front of the plate.
