Thanks for sharing those mods. They're some of the better and more useful that I've seen. Question about the bike rack. How many does it hold? Do you feel that the bumper is strong enough, or did you support it in someway. Thanks again.

Plexiglass on screen door - outstanding idea!
I added a power tongue jack first thing - pays for itself every time I use it. I installed a "Lil' Stanker" 12V exhaust fan on my black tank vent pipe, which eliminates those foul odors when the wind is just wrong.

Hi, and welcome.
The bike rack hold two and I can also get the grandsons' small bike on there, but it is a tight fit.
I have no problem with the bumper supporting the weight of the rack and three bikes. I do feel it is strong enough.

The Tonardo tank rinser work good. Not at all hard to install. I didn't use the hose and clamp that come in the kit. They're kinda flimsy. Best to pick up a garden hose repair end at local hardware store.

If you purchase a Tornado, attach it to a garden hose before installing to see how it works. I did that and it didn't deliver as much water as I'd like so I enlarged the holes at the end of the nozzle. I used a 1/8" drill bit.

Mods I have done to my 5th wheel :
1) Installed thermopane windows (not offerd from factory)
2) Installed 2nd 35000 btu furnace in garage
3) Installed custom aluminum checkerplate cabnets and cloths hooks in garage
4) Installed 2nd window in garage so I can use it as an office on location when I work
5) Remove standard hide a bed and replace with lazy-boy recliners
6) remove standard 27" TV and replace with 37" Plazma TV
7) Install Cruise TV auto aquire satilite TV system
8) Replace 5500 watt Onan Marquies Gold genset with Onan 5500 watt Marquis Platnum fuel injected genset (I had the Platnum in my old trailer)
9) install Heart Interface 3000 watt inverter with 130 amp smart battery charger ( I had an Onan inverter but it was junk)
10) Install 3 100 watt solar pannals with 25 amp charge controller
11) Install 6 Trojan T105 6 volt golf cart battries
12) Install SurFlow 5.5 GPM variable demand water pump
13) Replace factory bed matress with True Form memory foam matress
14) Install 13500 btu air conditioner in bedroom (15000 btu as main AC)
15) Install 12000 btu Olimpic catilitic heater in living area
16) Install Max Air vent covers on all vents
17) install wireless back up camera on rear of trailer (One also on back of truck)
18) Install class 3 hitch and wireing on back of trailer for pulling my Jeep YJ as a towed vehical

There is more, I will just have to think about what else I have done.

I was using it for work, but I recently told the company to shove it so it is now strictly recreational . We have been heavy into camping for a lot of years. This is rig #6 for us in the last 10 years, We started out with A 1975 Chev dually and a 1978 beat up 11 ft truck camper, we just kept upgrading from there. I fully intend to atleast semi retire in the next 4 years ( that puts me at 45) I intend to be on the road 6-8 months of the year the rest of the time I will come home and mabey catch some work here and there.

You set the bar too high for everyone else. Seriously, those are some AWESOME mods. I've done the memory foam matress swapout and I'm looking at the Max Air covers as we speak.

Relocate genny panel to kitchen vice under bathroom sink ???
insulate forward storage compartment ceiling limits cold feet in bedroom
portable icemaker
relocated rear stab jacks forward 6 feet
computer fans to circulate air under dinette bench seats
max air vents over fantastic breeze fans



Bear, can you give us a run down on teh olympic heater???? this might be just the cure i need in the rear of the coach

The catalitic heater is a great piece of equipment. I stayed in my trailer all last winter while working up in Northern BC (Dawson Creek mile 0 Alaska highway) the temps got to -40 and a wind chill on top of that. This was in my 36 ft 3 slide Alpinlite only 1 35000 btu furnace, without this cat heater I would have froze. They come in different sizes, if you are just looking to boost your heat level a little a small one will be fine, your furnace won't cycle near as much. The only caution is humidity. The catilist process creates humidity as a by product. I ran mine wide open 24/7 last winter, I had a de-humidifyer running, and I was dumping abut 1.5 quarts of water a day out of it. And it also uses oxygen, so leave a vent cracked. Other than that I would never be without one again.

we had quite a humidity problem last winter, ran the dehumidifier 24/7 and dumped it every morning
our rig is tight and us humans breathing was flat filling it up with humidty

this year will be differnt, we wil lbe sosuth about 4oo miles where is doesnt get as cold

Hi everyone,
Just joined the site. We have just purchased a 2007 Rockwood 31 footer. And we are new to the TT world. I would say most of our camping will be dry, and we had to have a generator. Went to Camping World and got 2 Honda ieu2000 with an adaptor, they were great, the weight of them, little, easy to haul. Everything you could ask for except the run time was less than 4 hours. This is not what Honda advertised for these units. So we took them back and boy did we get a genertor then. It is the new Onan Juice Box, it is heavy (around 400 lbs). It has a receiver hitch and on a stand with wheels. We were afraid we could not handle that big of a generator. But guess what it is so easy. First we had to get a hitch put on the TT (another $500.00), then the thing just rides on the back of the TT, you can pull it off and roll it away from the TT when you are camping. It is very quite and it will run 15 hours with a full load. It comes with a 6 gallon tank. So if anyone is looking in to getting one like this, I would highly recommand The Jucie Box by Onan.

That is a fine generator set-up. You will not have to worry about not having enough power.

Did you have the mattress/box spring contained together in that camper? I'd like to replace mine but wasn't sure if I could do it. How much did the memory foam mattress cost you?

It's just the mattress, no box spring, the only problem is it's taller than the original mattress, but it diden't bother us. The mattress is a fairly high end mattress, it was $1000 Canadian dollars, but that was a few years ago, they are probably a lot cheaper now.

The mattress being a little taller isn't much of a problem. For the bed to fit when the slide is in, we just turn back the comforter. The comforter was the only thing in the way.

Installed Polaroid 15" HD Ready Flat Panel LCD TV, on swivel wall mount, in bedroom.



Replaced 19" tv in entertainment center with 24" tv. Some disassembly required.
