Sorry to hear that. I replaced the OEM door lock on my TT two years ago with the RVlock. It's been problem free since. My wife loves it - she can punch in the code & go for walks or visits without hauling her keys.

W5CI, please provide more info. What's wrong with it?
My experience is, easy purchase, installation, use and good customer service. I only wish the grab handle inside were a little stronger, but this hasn't resulted in any problems.

If I am looking AT my travel trailer the lock is on the left side of the door. I open the door and it swings toward the front of the camper (toward the tow vehicle) .
Is this a right hand door or left? I never know......

Stand with your back at the hinges. If door opens as you would swing left arm in an arc, it is left handed. I believe yours is left handed as are most. Hope this helps.

These are the best. Indestructible !!!!! Tongue lock.....just saying.

I am just a customer and think this was worth the investment. They have videos of locks being cut off.

back to the hinges inside the camper or outside.
I guess either way it does not matter. if I do that the arc is a left swing, so left handed.
Good to remember. Thanks !

That is right hand.
From the rvlock site:
"Right handed RVLock v4 Handle (door hinged on the right side)"

heh, 2 opposite answers. I think I'd be calling RVLock.com to find out what they say.

Went to their site and I agree you need their right hand lock. Stand behind explanation for left or right hand door swing though.

Kind of true, it can be confusing. Many years in millworks. Stand OUTSIDE the door. Handing is based on where the hinges are. Typically the door to your house swings in. If the hinges are on your right, it's a right hand in-swing door. An RV exterior door normally swings out. If the hinges are on your right (standing outside) it's a right hand out-swing door.
You could also look at RVlock's pictures. The latch is to the left for a right hand door (hinge would be to the right).

The words "out swing" seem to be he key add to determine door handedness. I spent a lot of years prepping and installing doors and swinging windows and the only rule I ever heard of, was butt to the hinge check which hand is on the door swing side. I have heard about "out swing" and the only problem there is with double swinging doors. Both may swing out but only one is right hand because of that. The other is left hand because of swinging out. Because RVs move in the wind almost all exterior doors swing out, and I have never seen a double door on the exterior of an RV. So a special rule could rise in practice for RVs only. Suicide doors on cars would be another special case, if they still exist in any current design.

RV's are not like commercial hardware. I too learned the butt to butt when I was 18. Hard to believe that will be 51 years agoe this year.

Love our RVlock. Took some mods to get it work properly but once I got the bugs worked out, works fine.
