That appears to be very similar to what I would be replacing. Thanks!

Looks like a nice convenience item, especially if you have a lot of family members going in and out of a locked trailer. For us, not being full timers or even anywhere close to that, I can't justify the cost for the convenience side of the equation.

Does it provide any better security than the factory locks? That is, is it harder to break the door open with these locks?

I see there are several questions about which models our handles fit. Our RVlock Keyless handles fit almost all fifth wheels, travel trailers, and campers. If you would like to verify, you can take a quick measurement and match it with our specs found here http://www.rvlock.com/pages/specs

Our handles are built stronger than standard handles and are also more secure because we use a wide range of unique key codes. Standard handles have very few key codes available meaning many rigs are keyed the same. We have a large number of key codes that only fit our handles, greatly lowering the chances that someone else's key would open your rig. Our handles are built with security in mind just as much as convenience.

Question for RvLock: How long before motorhome option available?
Our motorhome handle is in development but I do not have an estimation of it's release at this time.

I'm not trying to be argumentative but I suspect that if a thief wants in your trailer, they'll try a crowbar, not a key or a code. So, if your locks can provide more resistance against forced entry that would be of more value to me since the convenience advantage is not as important.

The standard door locks are tough to break into. The RV next to us one night needed to break in because the lock failed. We spent an hour without success. We finally popped a window and sent a kid in thru it. So they are built tough.

Does RV Lock have a staff? I have emailed them via their web site, to rvlock@sales.com and rvlock@support.com and have not received a reply. I started emailing Wednesday evening and two times on Thursday. It is now very early Friday morning and nothing from them in response. I purchased a lock and there is a problem with it. Will the rvlock person who monitors this site check your email and get back with me please. Order SHP#1627

It is actually support@rvlock.com or sales@rvlock.com that you need to contact. If you followed the link on the website it will be correct though. You can also call (888) 316-9899. I will notify the associate that processes emails and have him look into it immediately. We try to respond to all emails as soon as possible. I apologize for the delay.

Dalford,
I think your email addresses are a little backwards.
If you sent emails to the addresses you posted, neither would go to RV Lock.
The last part of an email address (after the @) is the path where the internet tries to deliver the message to.
rvlock@sales.com should be... sales@rvlock.com
rvlock@support.com should be... support@rvlock.com

In my earlier post here I transposed the email address. I did use the addresses as stated above. I did call today and was politely taken care of and a replacement part is on the way. No one could tell me why my emails did not get a response but I am a satisfied with your companies response. I received a follow up call soon after I called to ensure I was taken care of.

What was broke? The red knob (plastic) for the deadbolt was broken on mine. I hope this isn't a design defect. I'd hate to be locked in my trailer in an emergency.

When I get my new knob I'm going to check it out very carefully...

Opened mine today and the red handle was broken the same as yours. Sent a message to them and waiting for a response. Order number 1562.

Better chance calling. Their email response is slow...

Yep, looks just like mine. The knob, washer and snap ring laying in the box; the other piece still on the shaft that turns... thingy. I think what is happening, is they are slipping the front and back pieces together and inserting the knob onto the shaft but not screwing them together so the red plastic knob is the only thing keeping it semi-together. The box is thrown or dropped causing the parts to try to separate and <<< KER-SNAP! >>>... they should either screw the two halves together or use bubble-wrap envelopes for each piece. Maybe the knob isn't as strong enough; the one on my old lock, looks stronger.

So much for the 10 minute easy install... by the way, I also had to file the opening.. it was slightly too small.
