What does everyone use to hold the sewer caps when dumping?
Since I have two outlets one for the axles and one aft I sometimes forget to replace the aft cap and the rubber band thingy ultimately snaps whilst traveling down the road and then the cap is gone.

I know I should remember to reinstall the cap but I phorget.
Alcohol induced I think.

Any help would be great.
Pictures recommended.

I put them in my pocket. Between the dampness and uncomfortableness when I sit down- I usually remember. Sometimes we have to stop after we get underway to change the baby, but jokes on me because it's my shorts pocket that stinks!

(No seriously, just kidding. I've actually never used a dump station with my fifth wheel.)

Don't have one for my axles. and after replumbing the rear tank to the front, I only have one to replace, which is easy to remember for someone my age.

This is just an issue of conditioning yourself to remember these things. Psychoanalysis treatment, shock therapy, induced electrical current when you walk away from the caps, something on those lines. Or get someone else to do the dirty work.

All I can offer is hope, because it doesn't sound like there's much.

Still trying to figure out why FR would put a sewer cap on the axles. I have hub caps on my axles.

Do you put your hose back up in the bumper or maybe a container?

Forget the rubber band dongels, while dumping, pull your end-cap(s) and set it/them where you will put up your hose. When you go to put up your hose, that is the time to notice your end cap(s) and put it/them back.

Or, if you like the caps attached, place a tag/label on the one you usually remember to screw back on. write... hey Turbs, do your other end cap NOW.

I just have the one end cap, one place to pull dump levers. It was one of the things I liked about my new trailer design before I ordered it.

Have you thought about buying a bulk box of hundred of those new disposable end caps?

Yeah, I was gonna seriously suggest some coated stainless steel fish leader to replace the "rubber bands." If they fasten to a flimsy plastic loop, you may need new fastening points.

I was thinking bolt through the face of the cap.

I drilled a 3/16" hole thru one of the ears on the cap, inserted a 12" piece of 1/8" nylon line with a knot in the end and tied the other end around the pipe....been working for well over two years and haven't lost a cap yet or forgotten to put it back on.

In Tennessee the Highway Patrol will write you a reminder if they catch you traveling on the roads with them off.

Tie a red ribbon on your cap. When you dump, move the ribbon to your steering wheel. When you get into your truck to leave you will see the ribbon on your steering wheel and you can go back and replace your caps and tie the ribbon back to your cap so it will remind you next time.

I don't have a cap problem but this is what I did after I tore the television antenna off a previous camper because I forgot to lower it.

I'm pretty sure it would be a violation of an environmental law of some kind.

It is a DoT regulation (not EPA) prohibiting discharge of hazardous waste on a roadway (even accidentally). The pipe end must be capped to be in compliance.

The open pipe is enough proof for a State Trooper to pull you over.
The fine can be enormous depending on his mood.
