Not to hijack the thread...but does anyone have any real world comparison between the Wingman and the King Jack? Locally, there is not a huge difference in the price. Just curious. Thanks!!!

The FCC set a timeline for the conversion from analog to digital television (DTV). Analog television was to cease in the United States on December 31, 2006.
One of many reasons for this was to reclaim spectrum from the broadcasters.

Thanks Paul. I admit to not reading every post. I know I should, but ran short on time.

It happens lol
As far as range about the same. Just that the Jack seems to have wider "view"
But no scientific measurements were taken in the comparison!

So I have to revive this thread. Supposedly this tt has a signal amp but I'm not sure it does. I only get like 5 channels and most seem choppy. The tt is in my driveway , I live minutes away from Chicago and I get like 35 channels in my home with HD antenna. What am I doing wrong in tt?

Could be several things.
1. Be sure the amp power is turned on. Small button on face plate that has the TV ant connection on it. Should be a red, green, or blue LED lit when on. See Photo

2. Could have a loose or bad coax connection. May have to remove something to get to connection in wall.

3. If everything else is OK, you have the cheap no-name antenna FR has been using which is useless. Just for kicks I bought a $25 external amplified Digital TV antenna w/rotor on Amazon and it added several new channels over the one on the TT now.

The button is only on one face plate.

Wow, i found it hidden in the cabinet behind the tv. It was off, should I just leave it on all of the time ? I wonder why it was off?

It was behind this tv , out of reach.

Ok, I get many more channels but still choppy on a few. I use digital converter boxes and wonder if that restricts optimal signal.

It does but the old owner caked on the lap sealant so I might have to remove some to get it to turn. Hope he didn't caulk it cause of leaks .

Just has 'O' ring (s) inside at top for seal....access is from top side...If nessesary, the inside handle has an allen set screw that holds the inside handle together...might have to remove it first...fairly easy..

Should I upgrade to HD antenna?

Should I replace o ring just in case ? Seems weird that it would all be caulked , might of had a leak at one time .

Back to the should I leave it on. The answer depends. It will draw power, so if you are boondocking then only on when you use it. Also off when you store the RV unless you have a battery disconnect switch.

This antenna maintenance video may help, too.

There are lots of videos on YouTube showing how to operate the Winegard system.

Do they leak ?? Should I remove the caulk and just use it ? If it does leak would it affect the frame or leak internally into the tt through the antenna ?
