Should I upgrade to HD antenna?

My tt is a 1998 and I am able to get some channels in a fairly stable manner using a signal ampliphier but wonder if an HD antenna would improve signal strength ? I've read other forums and some say that antennas are all created equal , could this be true ?

if you have the older Wineguard sensor III you need to add the Wineguard Wingman. it can be done without tools very easy install and costs around $29.00. I added it to the winne sensor III and got a bunch more channels. I do have digital TVs

Research HD antennas and you'll find out they are a scam.
You could use rabbit ear antennas and get HD signals.

run your antenna up and if main head is either white or gray it is more then likely a wineguard. you should be able to read the make on the head of the antenna.

You are correct you can get an hd signal from any antenna, with that said using the amplified wineguard original antenna (designed for analog) I got 17 channels when I added the wineguard wingman I got 26

Only if you have a wineguard sensor antenna my reference was to this type of antenna and that is the one the wineguard wingman fits. not sure what to do about other types of antenna

The original Winegard antenna was not good for UHF channels. When Stations switched to digital and HD most of the channels switched to UHF therefore Winegard came out with the Wingman attachment. It makes a world of difference in reception.

This is what I added to my tt antenna line and it's a bit better but wonder if an antenna upgrade or that winegard add on would improve. I placed this amp in my home and it did wonders just don't see wonders in tt, just a slight improvement.

Here is a video from Winegard on how to upgrade the Sensar III with their Wingman add-on for better reception.

The amplifier that worked in your home did so because your antenna is UHF compliant
It does not work in the RV because the antenna is not picking up UHF so nothing to amplify
Add the Wingman attachment and you should have signal.

Did you put this between the antenna and the antenna power supply plate or between the plate and tv?

An "HD" antenna does not exist. The only thing that matters (unless you get into satellites) is what frequency they are broadcasting on. Voice or data or video or Morse code doesn't matter.

As I stated earlier. Most stations are broadcasting on the UHF TV band. He has no UHF antenna so no or very little signal.
Most people do not know that the antennas did not change when the conversion to digital happened. Antenna manufacturers and retailers make the public believe they need a new antenna.
The carrier frequency's remained the same but most VHF stations switched to UHF due to the VHF band being taken from them by the FCC.
If you had a VHF/UHF combo antenna you were usually OK. I say usually because the new ATSC broadcasting standard can be very fickle. You may get a strong signal but your neighbors may not.
