slide out BBQ

After nearly a year and half i finally had the planets come into alignment and my project is 80% complete
lots of algebra, mockups and napkin drawings.
i really wanted to have it come out of my water tank compartment door as it opens sideways, but there was just not enough clearance

i need to paint the bbq mount panel and apply some sealant to the rear of the compartment and we are ready to bbq on the road

i used 3 pr of 100 pound glides plus 1 pair of 200 lbs slides as a lower base.
it extends up to 72" out from the rear compartment and can be adjusted in if i cook a heavy item like a turkey.

the compartment door can be lowered half way or left open.
the bbq is mounted to the tray with four guide pins and two quick release pins so it can be taken off for cleaning with no real effort

after its painted, I will post some pictures of its easy on/off and lp hookups
the only thing that used to be in this rear compartment was a step for the front, and a few jack pads for uneven spots at the camp grounds.
i relocated them to a front compartment for ease of use
no the bbq will not be stowed while hot.
and the big gray thing hanging above it is the inverter/charger

I was gonna say, that would suck if it accidently slid inside while cooking your steaks and proceeded to burn you motorhome down.

Nice looking project. I love home engineering.

I painted the flat alum the bbq sits on and added the pins to allow me remove it in a pinch for cleaning
plus a better shot of it out for use.

That is fantastic!

Did you make the sliding drawer yourself or did you buy it?

Real nice. I've got to build something using those slides some day. Check out Austin Hardware & Supply, INC for slides and other cool stuff. They also have locks for them as well. Great for big coolers, Gen Sets, etc...

Is it strong enough to hold ones if these?
