Slide Swipes

I remembe seeing a thread for a mod to the slides to ensure the rubber seals around the edge get fully extended or retracted. It was a strip of something down the slide side. Can someone direct me to that thread? Thx...dalford

I added narrow alum strips to the seals on our wardrobe slide because they were coming loose due to the factory adhesive failing.

Thx OC but I remember seeing a pic on a large slide with a strip of something down the middle. It's purpose was to force the rubber seals to fully extend or retract. When I put my slide out the rubber around the sides sometimes does not fully flap out. I don't know if that makes sense.. OP

Could do the same on long slides with alum edge strips from Lowes/HD.

Dalford...I recall seeing that thread and the poster mentioned they had just used strips of car body moulding purchased from a auto parts store and it had a self adhesive that he just stuck on his slides roughly in the middle of the slide.
Last week we were in a park and the people next next to us had that exact same thing...I should have asked him if he was the original poster!

WFD, that's what I'm talking about. After doing a little research what I'm trying to do is get the "wiper" part of the rubber seal around the slide to wipe all the way out when I extend my slide. Sometime it does and sometimes it doesn't. Thx.. OP

Dalford...same thing happens with ours. I don't think it would take much to cause the seal to flip in either direction, just something for it to catch. Probably would want to install a couple of them in middle of slide, a couple feet apart.

I do the maintenance thing on the rubber seal, spray them with Aerospace 303. I think it's been happening ever since I waxed the trailer including the slideouts so now the rubber seals just slide on the waxy surface.

That was my original post on 4/22/16, Slide Seal Flap Flappers, under this section of the forum.
Hope this helps...can't figure out how to link the thread to here.

The windows in our slide helps flip our seals one way or the other, but this is a good idea if you don't have windows.

Here's the link. Slide Seal Flap Flappers

Thanks for replying Grumpy....found it....I had forgotten that you actually ordered through Amazon.
As Bama Rambler says on the sides where we have a window the window causes it to flip, but the sides that are windowless I sometimes have an issue with it not flipping.
