Slide toppers

I know there is a great deal of info on these forums about slide toppers, but what I would like to know is what are the most popular brands etc? I have a 2017 Cedar Creek Hathaway 34RL2. I know some have metal housing covers etc. Any info regarding these would be greatly appreciated. Your experience speaks volumes.

I usually buy the best and never regret it. However, I decided on the LCI less expensive unit ($220) as I only use my camper 4 or 5 times a year and figured if I get 5 or 6 years out of it, that's okay. Unlike good tires, IF it fails, no big deal.

I am installing it myself. After 5 years, if it's falling apart I'll just get another and have a 20 minute install.

If you're using yours a lot, or full timing, the metal covered one's will give you longer life.

I think there is only 3 companies that make slide toppers, though each has at least 2 models. Carefree of Colorado, Dometic/A&E and LCI/Lippert are the ones that I know of.

I just put an LCI slide topper on my TT that I bought from CW. Can't see a thing wrong with it. Good hardware and if fabric dies in 5-6 years I can just replace it. Was under $300 total for a 10' topper including shipping and a ridiculous State Sales Tax.

OP -- did you end up getting toppers?
If so, where'd you buy them and what did you go with?
I've been contemplating them for some time now.
