sliding Pantry shelf?

I have a 2002 Salem 29RLSS, just bought it, The shelves in the pantry are narrow and deep I would like to install something that canned goods would sit on or in that would pull out allowing you to more easily see things in the back. Anybody know of such a thing?

A simple google for sliding cabinet shelf will find a lot of options. I'm not promoting HomeDepot over any other source but you can find examples HERE. If none fit, consider disassembling one and cutting down the width.

In your case it's probably a good choice but be aware you'll lose a percentage of the width of the cabinet to the clearance required by the hardware. Unless you have European-style cabinets (I've never seen them on RVs) the face frame is narrower than the cabinet itself. Plus, the interior dimension of whatever shelf you install will be smaller still. If you fit it right you can maximize the available space but there will still be some loss. That might be exceeded by the space gained at the back of the cabinet that you otherwise wouldn't use.

Be sure to secure it from rolling out during RV movement. The cabinet door latch might do that but also might not be designed to resist the pressure of a rolling shelf.

I purchased several of this style drawer slide at HD. Only have to add ends and bottom. Found they gave me more room in the closet because the sides are mad of metal you save almost 1". Inside closet I installed thin board (shims) to build up sides to install inside brackets. I used construction adhesive to stick shims to inside then screwed the brackets through the shims (gave it more strength to hold screws). Have used this for past 4 years and not had a problem (one shelf holds canned goods). Because drawers are behind door did not worry about finishing end boards. The trailer is asleep for the winter so I cannot get pictures.

Pull out pantry

I built a full extension slide out pantry in a wardrobe of my Wildwood. Used 1/2" and 3/4" baltic birch plywood with some maple. Used rabbet and dado joints and used glue only for assembly. Took a while but the results are a very usable pantry that gained a lot of storage space.

Thanks!
Quite overkill, but it'll survive longer than the trailer
