It's a nice product we open it in the daytime so we can see out & close it at night. Ours is bending a bit at the base/handle you use to lower & raise the shade.

Just not worth it to me. I keep it closed while the fifth wheel is in storage, but not when we are camping.
Sounds about right to me !!!

What do you think of the idea of adding a floating pet screen door (about $20 on Amazon) on the screen door right over the Slim Shade? That should allow access to lower/raise the shade without opening the outside door. Seems kinda crazy, but it might just work if the pet door is the right color, slim and light enough...
I'm not sure what you are referring to... Floating pet door on a sceen? Any pics or links you can share.

Thanks
Debbie

A floating pet screen door is one of those flaps you can add to a screen door so your pet can come/go as they wish. It attaches directly to the screen so you can position it anywhere. Search for "PetSafe Pet Screen Door" on Amazon for a $20 example. This one is 8" x 10" and would enable you to open the flap and raise/lower the shade without opening the main door/screen at all. Maybe. At least that's my guess/hope. Unless DW thinks it's too ugly.

I'm still in the research phase and was wondering if anyone has tried anything this crazy.

I believe you may have hit the nail on the head with the DW... because this DW is thinking the same thing... let me know her response. My concern is that it will look funny. And I am enjoying looking out that widow even with the screen there. So I wouldn't want to do anything that may obstruct my new found view~!! But please share her response I am anxious to hear what SHE thinks!

This was fun to read...

Some have been mounting that window upside down so they can access it through that little sliding panel on the screen door instead of having to open both doors.

Our TR Salem Lite 201BHXL has no window in the door. Does this include instruction on making a hole for the window or is this even possible?

Edit- I actually have mine sitting in my shop waiting for me to install it.
The template is on the outside back side of the box.
Good luck!

So we finally got around to trying to figure out the the best way to open and close the window without opening the door. That proved to be a pain in backside and let in tons of bugs.

We bought a dog door which looked too bulky and obstructed our view. We bought screen and threw around the around the idea of Velcro or magnets.

Then the wife bought one of those magic screen door things. She came up with the idea just removing the original screen in the door and putting the magic screen in it's place. I left it a little loose so it would close the gap in the middle.

We will replace the lower half with a solid section left over do the whole matches.Click image for larger version

Wow, love that idea. Now you solved my biggest gripe about the window shade.

As an added bonus you can pass your favorite beverage through the screen window without opening the door.

Slim Shade

It was a nice sunny warm day today so I decided to install the slim shade. Like others have experienced it only took about 30 minutes. I installed the shade from the bottom up and it works fine. Just sitting in our driveway we like the ability to see thru the door glass.

I was not able to get a tight seal on the top exterior plastic frame as you can see in the photo. I tried some silicone caulk but it didn’t adhere and I removed as much as I could. I just ordered a tube of Proflex Rv Clear and will put that on. Otherwise we like the product.

Great idea! Would it be asking too much to post more pics of the whole door? I have one of those screens that I bought years ago for a travel trailer I built and never installed and am going to do this upgrade.
Thanks

Thanks for the pic but what I wanted to see was how you attached the screen from the inside, mainly the bottom and how far down it goes and is attached at the bottom.

The bottom of the door we have done yet. It is still the factory screen that came with the door.

We did not attached the screen from the inside.

1. We removed the door from the frame
2. Placed the door on a two saw horses
3. Removed the rubber rope from the top section of screen on the door.
4. Placed the full magic screen on top of the door
5. We placed it with 3 inches over lap on the sides, top and bottom.
6. We then cut off the remainder of the magic screen leaving the 3 inches overlap all around. Thus giving us room to maneuver the magic screen into place.
8. We left 4 magnets in place to provide a better seal.
9. I started on the handle side of the door with the rubber rope from the bottom of the opening to the top.
10. If you look at the screen there dark sections (lines) of screen going vertical on the screen. I used this as a guide to get the screen fairly straight.
11. I left about a 16th of an inch of play on each side is the screen would close tightly.
12. I ran the rubber rope all around the opening into the guides and cut off the remaining rope.
13. Using a new blade in a box cutter, I cut off the remaining 3 inches of screen at the rubber rope.

I can reach my hand through the screen and open/close the shade on the window. The magnets close keeping the bugs

Has anyone installed this Slim Shade where the inside of the window in your door does not have screws holding it in?

Ours doesn't have any screws and we were wondering if there is a trick to prying it off with out damaging the window or the door.

Thanks!
