So we added 3 Maxxair vent covers
Went to the dealer on sat for a visit and to pick up a few little extras and ended up with 2 Maxxair vent covers for the living room and bedroom vents and a Maxxair II for the create a breeze in the bathroom. We went with the smoked units and they look very nice. Also picked up an 8 x 20 matt for outside and carrying bag. I'll post a couple pics of the roof later today if I remember.

I did two today also. Took about an hour. Wasn't too difficult.

I ordered one last week & it got here today! I got the Maxxair II and it looks like it will allow a lot of air flow.

Where is all that blue sky and green grass at? Don't think you are in California... Closest we come to blue skies is grey (as in smog).

The DW decided on the color as the smoke color matches the color scheme of the stripes and IMO they look classier than the white or black.

do they attach to the vent or screw into the roof? Do you need to caulk around them?

They attach to the vent frame. You drill a few holes in the vent frame and bolt the brackets there and there are carriage bolts that go in the brackets to hold the vent in place. It takes maybe 20 minutes per vent to install them.

Last month I bought 2 Camco covers. I'm so handy that I made the dealer intalling them. Nice job and I like it!

You do not want to caulk around them This is from Maxx Air's website:The gap between our Vent Covers and the RV roof is designed to be there so any wind driven rain or condensation that collects underneath the Vent can easily drain out. Please Do Not Use Caulk.

I have two Maxxair II's on the front and rear main vents, and a Fan/Mate 850 on the Create-a-Breeze in the head. All were a snap to install and work great

I'm an RV n00b, and a stupid question here. But what is the purpose of these?

If you have your standard vents open more than an inch or so, rain can come inside...bad! Even just "cracked" I've seen heavy rain splash hard enough to penetrate. And going down the road these standard vents should always be closed.
With the MaxxAir covers you can leave the vents fully open and stop worrying about the rain. Also, they prevent leaves and pine needles from falling down onto the vent screens. You can also leave your vents open when traveling (except perhaps in the most violent of rain storms) without worrying about water penetration. A final benefit is that it protects the cheap plastic on the standard vents (which can be a pain to replace) from exposure to the elements so they last much longer.

Ruben, Maxxair air vents is almost a must! If you can afford them get the newer model has more vent area and easy to clean.
