Sofa /air bed storage drawer..

We have one of the sofas that converts to the air bed...a very nice design and quite comfortable in my opinion.
The problem is the storage drawer underneath....will not stay on the slides...slides have fallen apart....jams up...had the slides replaced once already by the dealer...fell apart again this weekend. We only store a few items in the drawer , minimal weight....
Has anyone had this problem? Have you modified it yet?...what did you do?
I'm thinking I may separate the drawer completley from the sofa...attach casters to it for easy movement .
What do you think.

Sounds like a manufacture defect ( Who ever built couch) Your dealer should be having a better look into this. Remember Squeaking Wheel gets attention Stay after the dealer to solve this.

I had the same problem with another trailer I had. I went to a local cabinet shop a purchased a pair heavy duty slides. I also had to shim behind the drawer slide ( the drawer component) to tighten them up as it was somewhat loose or sloppy, side to side. Also after opening the drawer with the slide fully extended. the slides have a tendency to open up on the ends. It seems like the factory slides will not handle the weight. In the meantime don't overload the drawer. I think the casters under the front of the drawer may be a good solution as well

Just my opinion,

Rick

Is the wood wedge permanent or does it have to be re installed at every use

I'd call it a "defect".

No issues at all with my couch drawer and we store heavy stuff in it.
