Morryde steps are a great addition to any trailer we put a set on our old travel trailer and our new fifth wheel has them also they are light weight yet very sturdy

Here are three suggestions, listed in order of my preference, which is also in order of the least amount of effort and modifications (in my opinion) that may be required to install them:

1/ Lippert SolidStep
2/ MORryde StepAbove
3/ TorkLift GlowStep Revolution

Each step has something that the others don’t have. You should check them all out to see which is most suitable for your situation.

The GlowSteps are the absolute easiest to replace (if I did it myself with no help...anyone can).

All I needed tool wise was two socket wrenches, two screwdrivers* and 20 minutes...it was done!

Lightweight and can be deployed in many different angles...my favorite is like a ladder while it is in the storage lot without a lot of room between rigs or when lifting heavy things into the RV (ever try carrying a 100-pound box up RV steps?).

They are more expensive...but worth every penny!

* In the third shot you can see what the screwdrivers were for - to hold the steps in place while I put in the screws - I came up with that idea after trying to hold the steps in place with my knees

John... just a quick question... none of your 'after' photos show a side view but in you last photo it 'appears' the Glow steps protrude a bit out away from the side of the trailer when closed... do they or is that an illusion?

They do not stick out from the side of the trailer...

Where I used to park it by my garage in Denver there was almost an eight inch drop from the other side of the trailer when level due to the slope away from my garage and down to the ground.

In the photo below, the ground where the GlowStep feet are is at least another six inches lower that the bottom of the tires (tires on the other side of trailer are not on blocks, but on the ground)...and the trailer is level as it sits in this photo.

I could also stretch those steps out to make contact with the grass in the photo if I wanted, or move them closer to the trailer if needed.

between the morryde and lippert steps which one would normally have the least amount of modification to the door or frame, as for the torklift still too close to the wheel

What does "being too close to the wheel" have to do with anything?

Not sure what that even means...

When I was looking at steps to replace the "diving board" type factory steps in my TT I saw a set of the "Morryde" (sp) steps on another TT at a campground. They were nicely built and sturdy but--the owner stated that he wishes he had not gotten those because they fold up into the RV and one has to remember to clean them before storing. When wet from rain it's a bigger mess according to the owner. I went with the "Revolution Glo Steps" and have not regretted it one bit. Yes, it was a reasonably easy installation and would have been a bit smoother with another set of hands. Yes, they do come out at three different levels and can stretch out quite a bit. No, they do not stick out any from the side wall of my TT. My 12 year old g'son can deploy and retract them with ease. I'm not familiar with the Lippert model.

my step box is only 1 & 3/8 inches away from a 14 inch tire which should be a 15 inch and that is way too close for comfort, this is why i am looking for an alternate set of steps, that is a can of worms i don't want to get into. thanks

The original steps come out in one piece and the Glow Steps have their own mounting bracket.

If your steps can come out...the Glow Steps will fit in!

You just have to measure and get the right size.

Can you show us a photo of your trailer with the door, steps and tires?

x2 on not wanting wet/dirty steps folded into my TT - my salesperson said that is the biggest complaint about them. Coming in 2nd was that they have to be put down to allow access and they take up a lot of space so it can be difficult whie the TT is in storage or close proximity to something. And lastly, the steps are shallow and people report tripping on the top step.

Just wondering why you have one 14" tire along with three 15" tires.

Not good to travel that way...

Also, more of the side of the trailer showing the whole steps in a photo would be nice.

IF I remember correctly when I obtained my Glow-Steps there were two different widths available and I'm thinking (oops) that there were some washers to take up any slack if the box was a bit too wide, sort of like shims. I measured the width of the boxed in area where the "diving board/original" steps were and Torklift International (the makers of Glow-Steps) sent me the ones for my boxed area. Seriously the installation was rather easy. I would recommend another set of hands to hold them in place while installing the first two bolts.

I did mine myself...

Instead of a second set of hands, I used a screwdriver on each side to hold the steps in place while I put the other screws in the holes.
