I used two SS nuts/bolts/fender washers on either side of the frame's I-beam flange. I cut two washers in half to make up for the thickness of the flange. So a total of 2 sets of 2 on each side of the TT. See attached drwg of the bolts on one I-beam. I did NOT want to drill ANY holes in the frame.

Note that I have a slight error in the side view on the right side. The top washer/nut should be just above the two cut-in-half washers, similar to what's shown on the view at the bottom of the picture.

I can see how that works. Good Ingenuity! I just drilled the holes
.....Are you drilling through the 5" post? Looks like that's what you're doing in your drawing in the side view. Guess that's one way of doing it.

Yes. Insert the SS bolt and fender washer from inside the post, add the two half washers, then put the top fender washer on top of the I-beam flange, then the nut. Used nylon lock SS nuts. Total of 8 sets, 4 on each side of trailer, two on each side of each I-beam.

I agree. These posts are hard to find in late summer. Hardware buyers must think Canadians only build snow fences after August 1. After numerous phone calls I found an observant employee who knew about a pallet of 5X5 vinyl posts at a local HD this weekend (mid September). They'd been sitting there for weeks. It took them almost an hour to discover they had no information on cost or anything in their system. The posts had been discontinued. Got a deal. $20 for one post.

hi all, just wanted to offer another solution if you can't find post guards. (I couldn't in Calgary). Since we are in irrigation country, I picked up a piece of 5" aluminum irrigation pipe. Light and strong. Will be mounting it above the back bumper.

Forgot to post and to say thank you for all recommendations. Last week I completed my installation of sewer hose storage, plus I added another to hold fishing rods.
They look great and work awesome.

I want to do this mod on my new Sabre but have reservations about drilling holes in the frame of the trailer.
Has anyone had any issues drilling the frame?
What about FR or Lippert if you have frame issues later on down the road? They may blame your mod as the cause???
Just wondering guys.. I luv the mod!

I waited till I was out of warranty.
I doubt there will be any repercussions, but you never can tell.
A crack originating in a hole you drilled would be tough to claim as a manufacturing defect.
However, many camper frames get cracked due to overloading and bike racks; so it may not matter; won't be covered anyway.

First take a look for any existing holes. I found them on mine and reused instead of drilling new. Some others on here have found ways to clamp them without drilling new holes as well.
If you do end up having to drill holes, make sure you stop and think about the load first. Try to drill in the least load bearing point of the frame.

I had same reservations until I looked underneath, holes were already in frame, so please check it out first.

Beam clamps used for attaching pipes to structural steel for pipes and conduit.
I would use one on each side total of 8 to attach one fence post. No Drilling.
Previous poster mentioned JT's, they are attached with self driving number 14 or 16 screws.

I've posted this before, but if you're using a fence post, I clamped mine to the flange of my frame with stainless steel nylon insert locking nuts, bolts and fender washers. The bolts are right next to the flange. There's a fender washer on top of the flange, two halves of a cut washer to make up the thickness of the flange, and a fender washer inside the post. Attached pic is not totally correct, but you'll get the idea.
8 sets of nuts/bolts/washers total: 4 on each frame rail, 2 on each side of the frame flange. You need to adjust the number of half-washers based on the thickness of the flange on your frame.
It's been on for 3 seasons. No problems.

Thanks for the replies. They gave me ideas so I don't have to take out the drill. I just have to wait until fence posts are in stock at HD in the spring.
Trailer is in storage now but I recall from the PDI the brackets for JT Strong Arms are already there so that should be an easy project.
Thanks again!

You can order them online. It says if you ordered it today, you'd have it Nov 19-21.
Veranda White Vinyl Fence Post (Common: 5 in. x 5 in. x 8 ft; Actual: 5.0 in. x 5.0 in. x 96.0 in.)-73010700 at The Home Depot
Here's the rain gutter to put in it, from Lowes:
http://www.lowes.com/pd_12066-322-RW...ter&facetInfo=
I'll let you find the end cap for the fence post and the end caps for the rain gutter on your own.
