I haven't seen this exact set up, but there are ladders that can do it. It's called an attic ladder, firefighters have been using them for a long time now. Not much stability nor a high weight rating but it will get you where others won't.

They are GPLogistics folding ladder and my 5'er is OSHA rated for 225#. It is as stable as any step ladder. Everything locks when unfolded and it folds up less than 4" square.

I'd like to have one like OC but @ 250lbs & probably not gettin under 225lbs...I settled for this style of ladder, fits easily in my front storage basement, very strong & sturdy but a little weight to it...most of all, rated for over 300lbs

I have one from HD very similar to that one that we keep under the bunks in the back. Have had to use it several times. Usually for other campers

Heres what I did. I welded up mount brackets with room to add another box if needed.
- I figured if I need to lock the end, I will just drill the hole a little bigger in my pin and add a little master lock.

I added 2 5X5 PVC fence post under my 5th wheel but also bought a diamond plate conduit box off craigslist which had 2- 5' pieces. I unbolted them and made 1 cap for one and a door for the other and bolted them also under my fifth wheel and his roo they are 6"X11"X5'. Can't attach 2 pics so here are two replys.

I am going to be doing this on my Flagstaff. This is an excellnt idea and will definately create more organized storage.
So, am I thinking correctly in that if you guys are doing this in 8 foot sections that they are accessable from both ends or do you merely place a door on one end.
Also, what do you think approximately that you have invested in one of these when complete...I haven't had a chance to go price materials yet. Just wondering what to expect.

I tilted mine up in to the frame area since my underbelly is open. I put cap on one end and door on the other. This way water would run out and I can slide the tray out missing the rounded trim piece (skirt) on the camper since frame was actually a few inches higher. Have about $ 40-50 in each PVC box and $ 75 in both conduit boxes together.

I thought by moving it back there I could shift pin weight aft. If it is easy to rip them off while backing or in undulating terrain (love that word), then it is a no go for me. They stay where they are.

Anyone find the 5x5 posts on the northern side of the border? All I can find up here at HD/Lowe/Rona/Local stores are sized 4x4.
