Storage box for sewer hose?

Sometimes as a pilot, I was so over loaded I was more concerned about getting it off the ground. I knew I wouldn't have any problem getting down.

Things like this is why I love this site, my pvc tube strapped to my bumper will be history one day this summer and the beach umbrella's willfind a new home also. May I ask how this was bolted to trailer. Did you drill hole through channel of frame?

I hope this pic is clear enough to see, but yes, I drilled through the bottom flange of the I-beam and bolted it with nylon locking nuts.

Oh, and I have 2 6" PVC pipes that are going under it too. They will hold the power awning tie down poles(didn't get around to getting OC's) and the camping mat when it gets wet. Pics to follow as soon as that big thing in the sky shows it's face around here again allowing me to work on it!

So far all your work is in front of the axles giving you more pin weight. Are you going to put your additional pipes behind the axles to compensate? Or isn't that a problem in your set-up?

That is not a problem with my setup. Plus everything under there will not weigh 70-80 pounds. So it's pretty insignificant....

I am at the low end of pin weight as a percentage of camper weight.
While my last weight check showed our truck's GVWR at max, I am rethinking the tool box (front storage compartment) and the heavier items stored in the truck bed (Jack stands and tow chains).

My question on these storage tubes...if memory serves me correctly they are 5" vinyl fence posts. All the posts that I have found have rectangular slots cut out of them for the fence rails. Are you finding them without the slots, sealing the slots up, or ?? I have looked at both Menards and Lowe's. the guttering is...well, easy to find.

There are 5 inch posts without the slots too.

I assumed there would be. I guess I need to choose better points of contact at the stores, as both provided me with the same answer...they didn't sell them.

Home Depot had the 5 inch Posts and Caps; but not Lowes.
Lowes had the perforated steel bars; Home Depot didn't.
Lowes had the correct 4 inch rain gutter (symmetrical); Home Depot did not.
Home Depot had the 1/8 inch vinyl clad steel cable; Lowes was out of stock.
Home Depot had the 3/16 Clad Copper Ferrules; but not the crimping tool.
Lowes had the crimping tool but not the Ferrules.

They should also have a couple of different style caps in stock too. I used 1" aluminum tubing for mine and like Lou said, Lowe's has the gutters that I use for this purpose.


Works really well when the sewer hook up is above the ground, like the beach.

I used the "inside" end caps and pop riveted them in place.
I did not need to use a dowel for a handle.

Like most of you, I have always thought of Loews and HD when buying almost anything for the home or yard etc. There are plenty of both here in the DFW Metroplex.

But a recent experience I had made me turn to a third source for things I would usually go to either Lowes or HD - that being Ace Hardware.

We recently had a outdoor patio extension poured - it's nice with a textured surface and stained to a pecan finish. We want to keep it looking new for as long as possible and we decided to replace the plastic inserts in the bottom of our outdoor furniture feet that were worn out.

I took an old insert with me and went to Lowes with no results. I went to HD and they didn't have any either. I then remembered there was a large Ace Hardware that opened about 4 years ago that isn't too far from our house.

I went in and showed the Ace guy that met me at the door ( how often does that happen at a big box store) what I needed and there they were - I depleted there stock, but they ordered more for me.

This is a big Ace and I was surprised at what they have - I will keep them in mind next time I need something that Lowes or HD doesn't have.

Whenever I am looking for any type of fastener, whether it be rivets, bolts or anything stainless, I forget the big store and go directly to Ace. There selection is far better than the other two put together and they usually have enough of the product I need. Plus, like you said, much more helpful than the box store.
Lou, the reason I put the dowel in mine is to aid in the draining of any excess water that gets in the tray. I didn't want it to be held, I want it to drain into the tube itself and then out the bottom.

Found this option for a sewer storage tube. My camper has the emerald package, eg., tan with tinted windows, and I wasn't after a white storage tube. I'm not sure how these mounting brackets align with the frame, but I'm gonna check it out.

Yea, I can see the benefit of that. Might have to drill some drain holes...
Always a tweak...

Oh, BTW, using the rain gutter I can fit my (collapsed) 25 foot hose and my 2 5 foot extensions with sanitary elbow in the tray. A 1 gallon Ziploc has the clear elbow and the threaded part of the sanitary elbow (stored in basement).
