Storage for assembled sewer hose

I did this same modification on the 07 Orbit and thought I would do the same on my RockWood 2904SS.
Even more so, since I had to buy a 2nd sewer hose and connectors due to the location of the main drain valve being located so far towards the front of the trailer.

So for Christmas I asked my son for one of the taller LP tank cover, since the shorter tank cover came with the 2904.
The local dealership only had Almond and not white. No big deal!


I then cut a thin sheet of plywood to fit inside the cover that would sit on top of the tanks.


The completely assembled 15' sewer hose fits snugly in the small area inside the tank cover.




The extra hose is still unassembled inside the bumper and the extra hose fittings are stored in a small container.

Great idea! Glad I finished reading your post because I've been leaning towards finding a shorter tank cover and now can consider your mod idea if I keep my taller cover. Being short myself the shorter cover would be easier to see inside and reach the tanks.

I have my cover with the knobs facing towards the trailer instead of the other directions. Does it matter? Just considering if the wind would have a better chance of opening up the lid. My lid doesn't fit as well as it did before it flew off. The tech and I forgot that the lid was not shut completely and I drove off with it loose. It got ran over a zillion times at 50-55 mph for about an hour before I went back looking for it.

Yes you are correct,the knobs face the trailer,lid will stay on if lid comes loose. Youroo!!

My 1st mod on the Orbit I was using a cover without a top hatch. I Would have to slide it off the tanks and flip it over to, remove the board to get to the hose and then vise versa to store the hose.

Later I had bought one of those tall covers with the lid and shortly lost the lid in a haste leaving Raccoon Mtn campgrounds in a monsoon.
I guess I had forgotten to tighten the knobs down
If I had been thinking I would have kept that tall tank cover when I traded in the Orbit and could have used the lid that came with the small tank cover on the 2904SS.

Yea, it would be best to spin the tank cover around and have the knobs in the rear. I'll do that asap.

My local RV supply store called the manufactor and requested new hardware since the knobs were lost (I wasn't about to search for them on the busy street). They shipped the hardware at no charge. Now I might try and see if I can get a replacement lid since mine is a little beat up.

I might drill a couple of small holes in the lid and cover and attach a cable like what my cousin's trailer tank cover has.

Yea, I'm going to do something similar.


IMO: The hinges aren't to secure/sturdy, that's why I think it's better for the knobs to be facing forward.
