I certainly like the tube for the bars, however I would be concerned about the possibility of theft. Then again, the storage doors and locks on our CC are just going to keep an honest man honest.

crushor,
The tube works well for storage when the TT is at the campground and at home in the driveway. It cost me about $20 bucks to build and weighs about 4 lbs empty.
I can fit the Equalizer bars, L brackets and the lift bar in there. I hated putting the greasy bars in the back of the truck bed.
I built it for convenience but it sure would not stop someone from stealing the bars. I look at it this way, fellow campers at the campground already have their own setup for WD. My bars without the hitch head and brackets would not do them much good. The tube is hard to see and most people don't even notice it.
I have never heard of anyone having the WD system stolen from the trailer?

We just place a zip lock bag over the greasy WD bar heads and put 'em in the under-the-bed-outside access storage bay. Hitch head goes in the bed of the truck.

The link in my sig has pics of what I did on my old Outback. Worked pretty slick and several members on Outbackers duplicated it.

Well this box wont work. I measured and thought the leveling blocks would fit. The exterior dimensions worked but when I opened it and tried to fit thing in, no go.

1/2 inch short. Crap.

No I need another idea. The room between my tank and camper, due to the WD setup is around 12".

I'm open to suggestions.

This may work as it looks to be a full 12 inches inside.

Ugh, so frustrating.

Box was perfect but too wide to open while on the frame.

Back to the drawing board.

Part # 66244. If you order online use coupon code 80230705. This will get you 25% off. I think it ships for like $7 if you dont have a store close by. I have several stores in my area, so I was able to pick mine up.

Local HF had 2. Both had rust inside. He gave me 25% off then the cashier threw in another 20%. Got it for under $50.

Brought it home. Doesn't fit. Stupid small Roo frame.

I also have noticed that my WD brackets arent even. One is further forward then the other. Nice.

Thanks for your help, I give up.

Sorry to hear that the box wont fit. I had to go with the HF box because it was the only one that fit. On the brackets FYI, bolt them on so they wont move. Did this to mine and have had no issues. Had them bolted for a while now.

Thank you crunchman for the response. I do like the idea and old have to agree with you on not hearing about wd hitches being stolen. Contemplating this mod for my CC. Again, thanks.

Thanks. I'm taking the box back. My dream of keeping everything including my level blocks in one place has finally died.

I really like the pic with what looks like a hinge holding the bar. Keep it off the ground when parked. Might look for that at Lowes tomorrow when I return box #2.

Perfect Solution!

I used the tongue box method. It's a perfect fit for the bars and hitch head. When I hook up the hitch there is the perfect space for 6x6 (ish) blocks I use for the stabilizers and tongue jack etc. The box, lockable and fairly watertight is from Lowes.
By the way, you can make stuff fit. I had to put some square stock under the box to lift it high enough to fit over to top of brackets. I also had to squeeze the the tanks forward a couple inches, up against the jack.

I leave my WD hitch locked to the truck. The bars go inside the storage area with the heads inside plastic containers from Wally World. I also keep the friction control bars and when traveling the chocks and snap up bar there also. works great and no grease on the floor of the storage bay.

Before anyone else mentions it, I realize the bars are close to grounding out the battery. I have them covered with a towel here and am always careful. I now have a rubber mat covering the top the battery/terminals. The trailer isn't towed with the bars up there of course so they should just sit there.
