Stove Top Cover

I finally got around to making the stove top cover. it comes off for travel and will about double the space we had. I was inspired by the following thread: Suburban Stove Top - Flimsey at best

Very nice mod.
Can you give us the dimentions and a peak at the underside.
I want to build one like that but need to see the thickness of the wood you used. It looks like it sits over the sides. Do you think it will stay in place when travelling?

Thanks

I will get more pics this week, I used 3/4 thick pine. I plan on removing it during travel.

That does look nice - I am a handy guy and can do "alot" of things but when it comes to wood working I suck cause it seems my straight lines go a little wavey at times

Does the stock stove cover provide any protection to the back wall when you use the stove? I love the idea but was not sure if created any other issues with the back burners heat.

here are some more pictures.
the dimensions are 27 1/4" across, 20" front to back and 3 1/4" tall. I used 3/4" pine. I notched the back so it will fit over the original covers arms. I put felt strips on the bottom to keep it from scratching the counter top. I left the original cover on in case we need to use the burners or when we stop on the road we have a place to prep food. the cover comes off for travel.

What did you use to finish the wood?

I used minwax all in one and then sprayed it with a sealer to protect from liquid.
