Suburban Stove Top - Flimsey at best
The Surburban 3 burner stove in our TT came with a folding cover that at best is flimsey and of very poor quality.. It easily bends and is hard to position.. Has anyone replaced their cover with something more substancial while still being functional and good looking? If so, what did you use??

When I had my tt I purchased the butcher block stove top. I think I got it from camping world. It has rubber feet on the bottom the clings to the stove grates and it matched the cabinets.

I also hated that flimsy cover. I looked at the Camping World cutting board tops and thought they were too expensive. I had an existing cutting board the right size, so I used that. For feet to keep it in place I used closet pole brackets I got at Walmart for $1/pair. I laid the stove grill on the underside of the cutting board to get the position of the brackets just right and screwed them in. You may need to trim the brackets a bit to get them to fit the grill spacing.

Stove top cover
THE FIRST THING I DID (OR MOD) WAS MAKE A COMPLETE STOVE COVER
FOR OUR TT. MADE IT OUT OF 3/8" PLYWOOD, COVERED IT WITH BUTCHER BLOCK FORMICA. PUT SMALL FEET ON ALL FOUR CORNERS. IT COMPLETELY COVERS THE WHOLE STOVE, FITS AGAINST THE LEFT WALL AND BACK AGAINST KNIFE HOLDER. DOUBLED THE COUNTER TOP SPACE.
PLACED ONE SCREEN DOOR HANDLE ON THE EDGE NEXT TO THE SINK FOR MOVING IT. OF COURSE IT HAS TO BE STORED WHEN YOU TRAVEL.
WIFE LOVES IT

Way kewl. That's next after a conversion to a drill driven power tongue jack. Happening this weekend if the storm stays away.

Regarding the stove: Do others have a problem with the burner grill getting out of whack so that a pot won't sit level ?? Mine has become that way, maybe due to the heat ?? My Trailmanor was like that, also.

Not been a problem here. Make sure the grate is seated in the 4 grommets. I have seen these grommets missing before as well which will create some wobbling.
To the OP, the cover is a complete joke. It is beyond flimsy as you say.
I had no idea there were people making butcher block tops for them. Definitely going to have to look into that.

Also, why would they still use painted grills, a nice stainless steel would be nicer, and the black paint wold not bubble under heat as it does now...

Great idea for covering the stove, our old Edgewater did not have a cover over the stove and we always said we need one and now that our V-Lite has one well as has been said they are pretty cheap so I think we will start looking for a cutting board to modify. Man I love forums for the ideas people come up with..

Stove top cover
This is a stove top cover I made some years ago. Very simple to do. Plywood, formica, wood glue, contact cement for formica. It has outlasted three TT. The edge trim was made from 1/2" X 2" fir trim
The feet came from plastic door stops cut off the right length with the screws already embeded to screw into the wood edge.
It has to be stored when you are on the road.

Wal-mart has a "Paula Dean" cutting board ($26.97) that fits nicely over the standard RV stove (you have to add small legs or spacers).

Save more on counter space
As we all know the counter space is very limited, we just purchased a folding collapsible dish rack from Macy's dept store with Martha Stewart's name on it, very compact, nice color folds up nicely and goes foe $29.99.
My D/W say it is one of the best items we have purchased for the "ROCKY" 8285WS.

New update on the space saving dish rack!
I stated above about a space saving dish rack from Macy's with Martha Stewart's name on it.
Well I just returned from BED-BATH AND BEYOND and they have the same folding dish drain rack that folds up for space saving, the only difference is the color. Martha Stewart's is AQUA and the same one from Bed bath and Beyond is gray and $5.00 cheaper.

Thank you Daisy, I think I need one of those. Mine is small and don't fit my sink very well.
