Check out user Dunnnc. He's fairly active so he should see

Another acid test for the awning tiedowns

Just had another unexpected test on the tiedowns. An unexpected high wind/rain storm of about 30 minutes duration came thru the Thousand Trails Campground just east of Mocksville, NC that had everyone running to roll their power awnings up. We left ours out and the only effect was the matl rippled a little and the arms never moved. Had a couple of fellows asking about them. May have to make some more.

Not to completely derail this thread, but how did you like Thousand Trails in Advance? We were supposed to stay there over the 4th but had an issue with our reservation. Instead we camped at Cross Winds in Salisbury and really liked it.

To get back on track, those supports for the awning are great and are definitely a future must for us.

Thousand Trails-Advance is coming back, it is not like it was 6 yrs ago, but it is slowly improving.

Anyone interested in a set of the awning tie downs I made, I still have a set for sale. Just pm me.

GOsh, how frustrating. I had an old awning on my R-Pod camper that I had to slide into the track, pull up and center and then put out poles and guidelines to hold everything up. Real problem with Max our GSP when he was on a 30 foot lead since he constantly would get wrapped up in the support. Looking forward to the new SP 240 Surveyor with the electric awning and NO poles and now you guys are telling me I need to jury rig some kind of support structure. Talk about bust my bubble.

Only if you want to tie it down for unexpected rain or wind. Otherwise, enjoy the power awning. We put a sunscreen in ours and need the poles to take the load off the arms.

Although it is a hassle I guess I will role it up at nights and when we are off on day trips. I didn't realize they were so fragile since I have never had one. Guess I will need to find a guide for proper awning use. Good luck.
