Surge protector question

I recently bought a PROGRESSIVE INDUSTRIES SSP-30XL Surge Protector with Cover for my Rockwood Roo. My issue is with the cover. It appears my 30amp cord is too large to fit under the cover. Did anyone else have this problem? At this campground I am right by the electrical box so I’m using the furrion cord that came with the camper. Later today I am going to see if my 25ft camco cord fits under the cover.

On our 23IKSS Roo, neither the Furrion cable plug nor the Camco 25-ft extension plug will fit under the EMS-PT30X hinged cover. However, we have had the Roo plugged into our home's outdoor-mounted 30A outlet and have had no problems.

I had thought that we might need to cut the bottom off a gallon-sized clear storage bag and zip tie the closure end around the PT30X's upper cable to shed the rain and prevent blowing rain from reaching the unit. But, so far - so good!

YMMV (especially in very rainy/windy climes)

I think that cover is to protect the EMS plug from damage while transporting it, not your 30amp cord. It keep 'crud' from getting into the plug itself.

We generally just lift the cover and plug the 30amp into the connection with the cover lifted up.

Only if the weather is going to be really rainy do we put something on top to shelter it from rain. Some people say that it's not safe to completely cover it so we generally use whatever is on hand to make a 'shelf' over the top.

I mounted my Progressive Industries SSP-30XL Surge Protector inside my power bay. I do not need an EMS because my Samlex EVO-2212 Inverter/Charger monitors my 120v AC power like a UPS. I talked to Samlex tech support and they recommended a 30a circuit breaker and a surge-protector for power spikes.
