Swapping out Awning LED strip with after market strip

All,
Has anyone been successful in swapping out their OEM LED awning light strip with one of the newer fancier multi-colored strips. My main objective would be to use the current 12V power that currently runs the OEM strip. Any suggestions/ comments would be appreciated.

We have the bluish/white tinted LED strip underneath our awning. That puppy attracts bugs!

yep, i would like to do the same thing, i put my colored light up against camper just under awning. but the white lights appear to have a different cable , looks like 4 wires vice two,,the wire goes thru the awning seam and into the camper. i actually bought two strips and just haven't figured out the best spot for the new ones yet

I will be watching too. I just received my rgb LEDs in the mail but want to keep the factory installed strip for extra white light when needed. I'm planning on installing mine on the awning tube.

Just completed the setup...

The tools that you will need are as follows :

Electrical tape
Snips (Scissors)
Soldering Iron
Dremel Tool with cutting attachment.

What was purchased for the project:

You will need the following connector from the old setup:



I used the dremel tool to widen the "groove" to accommodate the RF controller, and the lights are about another 16th of a inch wider...so they don't fit down into the "groove" but the 3m tape seems to be holding them fine...

use the connector from the old setup and solder it to the 9v to barrel connector...after snipping off the 9v side of the setup... and just hide that inside the hole from the awning...

reconnect the connector that you pulled from the old setup, and plug the barrel connector into the RF controller, tape-up the lights into the groove and your done..

It took me about 45 minutes...
