Television mount

I am looking at adding a 21" flat screen mount to our RV. I sorta like this mount but wanted to hear any other options before I ordered this one.

MorRyde TV1-021 Double articulating TV Wall Mount

It is good for 25 pounds and the arm extends up to 18" and provides full motion swing, tilts 10 degrees, and swivel. We'd watch the TV mostly in the lock position but need it to move around when we open cabinet doors either side of of the TV.

I have had luck with the Ollo mounts brand, has shock absorbing and also lock mechanisms.
Can't figure out the linking yet, but one of them on amazon.com is listed as:
OLLO MOUNTS: 30-46" Swivel / Tilt **SHOCK ABSORBING** **FINGER TOUCH MEMORY TILT** **PATENTED ARM LOCKING MECHANISM** Flat Screen Universal TV Wall Mount (44N)

i have looked at that one. how do you lock it down so it doesn't float around when you are driving?

We have the MorRyde mount for the 23" flatscreen that we upgraded to. The locking mechanism works well, have not had it let loose in more that 3000 miles so far. The only concern would be the weight. I cut a piece of 1/2" plywood, painted that and mounted it with some wood cleats that i installed. Works good.

I use a bungee cord attached to the cabinet above it.

well, after a great deal of debating I did order the peerless you suggested. I will be "inventing" some type of hold-down instead of the bungee solution you use.

Thanks

I brought a locking cantilever mount from Camping World.
Locking the TV in place for travel is easy - no need to use cords or straps.

I would have used one like that, but this is going on the front of a cabinet and the wall mounting plate needs to be as short as possible, I'll probably make up some type of latch that holds the two arms together when it is pushed in.

mtnguy, i installed the TV mount you recommended and I gotta thank you. It turns out it is a really well designed mount.

I plan on making a "tuning fork" gizmo to slide up and clamp the two arms together while driving. It should hold the TV steady without having to wrap bungee cords around the monitor. I'll post a few photos of what it looks like when it is done.

You are welcome. Glad it worked out for you. I will be interested to see what you come up with to lock that puppy down.

Out of curiosity, where can you and where can you not install a TV mount on your TT? I have purchased a TV with a stand, and was planning on just wrapping it well and storing it while traveling but I'd love to have it on a mount.

A stud on an interior or exterior wall would work, but you probably either need to take the TV of during travel, or take some weight off of it so it doesn't pull the screws out and end up on the floor. On my mount, I used wood beside of the microwave, but take the weight off of the TV while traveling by using a bungee cord hooked to the overhead cabinet above.

With mine installation I don't need to worry about the screws pulling out, as you see it is mounted onto the little over-the-cab "entertainment cabinet" I recently built. Knock on wood, it should hold.

I simply made a tuning fork, out of a few pieces of scrap wood, that will lock the two arms together when it is pushed back to the cabinet and keep the TV tight to the cabinet. There is a bit of a barb at the open end of the fork to hold it in place.

I haven't road tested it but with a 10 pound TV i think I should be good.

I'm looking at a MORryde locking model as well... TV1-006H. Planning to use it on a 32 inch toshiba that is on a fixed mount in our rockwood 8317rkss (presently the viewing angle from the couch is terrible). MOview also makes some nice locking mounts as well. Have not fully decided. Either way, was thinking of fastening the new mount to the existing fixed mount so that I don't need to drill any more holes. Anyone with any experience or thoughts on that?

Thanks for the post and the photos. I will review your mod to see if I want to go that route with my setup.

LOL, i actually scrapped that idea and made another, much simpler bracket. when i went to hook up the DVD player it turned out the HDMI cable was right below where the tuning fork needs to be. I made a bracket that catches the bottom the the set when it is parked, it actually hangs from the front edge of the shelf below the the one in the photo. i'm post a photo later.
