That annoying bounce.
Hello fellow forum members,
I am in need of your expertise. We have Rockwood 2906 that we absolutely love. We have been out 4 weekends now and it has just been the two of us.
In two weeks, my nephew and his dw are coming to stay at the beach with us. We have the electric stabilizers in the front and rear, but we still bet some bounce when moving around inside. With the extra people, I know that it is going to get worse.
Any advice on some center stabilizers?
Thanks.

First get a set of "x chocks", they will help
Second get a set of jack stands from an auto parts store and put then up on the beams in the center of the trailer.
That will take 90% of the bounce out of it.

Thanks. I was seriously considering buying the x-chocks and I already have the jack stands.

To show you how much the x chocks help.
Go stand outside the trailer and tell the DW to walk back and forth, you will be AMAZED how much the tires "rock" back and forth when she moves back and forth in the trailer.

Triangulation, then X-chocks, then step supports, then extra jacks near the axles.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. X-chocks and extra jacks before the next trip out!

Go to harbor freight and buy a couple 4-ton bottle jacks for about $16 a piece. Put those under your frame and jack away to level side to side and then replace with jackstands. Really made our rig rock steady. I've actually left them there for a weekend too and they were fine. Plus good to have in the event of a flat tire. Stabilizing near the tires really takes out the tire rocking and bouncing.

I have a set of scissors jacks permanently bolted to the frame just in front of the axles.
Plus the x-chocks and stairs support.
Makes the trailer pretty stable ( 35' TT )

Center from front to back or center from left to right? Just wondering where I should put the jack stands.

I have to say that replacing my sizzer jacks with the heavy duty Bal jacks was a big improvement. The x chocks or something to keep the wheels from rolling is a must also. But absolutely the thing that ended the trailer from rocking back and forth when people moved around was a set of BAL 23216 Lock-Arm Stabilizing Bars. On a big trailer you might need 4 or more. But they are easy to install and work great. Best of luck!

I looked at my Roo, it looks like the stabilizers are attached to a plate that is only welded to the frame on one side. Could this be a reason for bounce?

typically the scissor jacks, even tho somewhat flimsy do not let the trailer bounce much...
bouncing around in the bunk ends at night, with the lever action of the suspended weight can be a problem...
when watching the trailer from the outside with someone inside, watch what is happening... the trailer moves slightly forward and backward because the tires are rolling... get the small size X-chocks... I actually purchased the plastic ones 2 years ago and they work good...
fits the 14" tires and the spacing between the wheel easily...

I have the x-chocks arriving tomorrow, putting jack stands under the frame at the wheels on both sides, and a jack under the steps. I will know more about this setup after this weekend

We have a 26RR (toy hauler), had quite a bit of bounce since the entire back end is an open floor plan.
First thing I added was the X-chocks which helped some along with tire chocks.
This past Spring, I purchased 4 scissor jacks from Harbor Freight and added 2 more to each side. Basically, 1 to each side just behind the rear axle and 1 to each side just in front of the entry steps.
After leveling the TT, I lower the additional scissor jacks to 'tighten' things up and also have a step support underneath the entry steps.
Things are much better now.

Do all the things listed above and.....
After you have put the stabilizers down, added x-chocks, bottle jacks, tire chocks, and cross braces then get 10-15 cinder blocks and jack it up a couple of feet in the air, pull the tires off and set it on cinder blocks
We came from a boat that rocks you to sleep at night so trailers are not a problem for us unless you are trying to build a house of cards or play Jenga.
We have corner jacks, X-chocks, and put the tongue jack down all before sending the slide out. Stable enough for us.
