Yeah, I pulled the wire enough to get some slack out and access the wire taps, but didn't see how easy it would be to fish or not. I bought one with a remote control for easy access to raise/lower and adjust fan speed and direction. Figured that way anyone can operate it without a ladder or stool.

Which brand and model did you get? And a pic when u have time.
I've been looking at different vents, and some of them say power, but I think on most that means the fan. And im like u, I want a power cover too, so nobody breaks the stool lid trying to open it.

Oh and kevin, (others can chime in on thiers too) on your max air 2's, how confidant do you feel about leaving a vent open and the max air 2 keeping rain out.
I moved my trailer to aa seasonal last weekend, and would like to leave a vent open, but the trailers about 70 miles away, and I want it to be protected from rain, for when were not there.
It looks like the maxair fanmate would protect really well, but their also about $120.
I've had the regular max air, but I wasn't concerned about rain as much, because the camper was either at the house or with us, campin.

I went with the Fantastic Vent 7350. Has all of it and a rain sensor to close just in case, but probably won't get used with the vent covers on.

I have the Max Air 2 covers and wouldn't bat an eye leaving them open. I have never had water come in while camping in downpours with them open.

This is my 2nd camper I've used the fanmates on without any issue. I leave them open all the time while it's parked beside the house. I lucked up and got the black ones for $75,ea at a local dealer. I like that they allow the fan to operate at full capacity, but to each his own. I paid full price for them on the last camper, but you can catch deals online sometimes.

Can you open the vent all the way LaydBack? That is one downfall of the Max Air II, but still have plenty of room to operate and get air moving.

It opens pretty wide, but I think it still hits the cover before it opens as wide as it's capable of.
