Those sliding closet doors...

5th wheel with closet in nose. Doors have a pin to fasten them to each other for travel, but nothing to keep them BOTH from slamming side to side. Broke one hanger on each coming to CG. How can I keep them in place?

I think I might devise a way to latch them open. Maybe a pair of window locks on the slide. The kind that fasten to window rails with a thumb screw.

Or use the same type of lock to keep them from sliding while closed, if you can get to the rail when they are locked closed.

We have the same set up (closet in the nose). Our doors latch closed and that's the way we travel, both doors closed. Maybe a strip of wood cut to the right length laid in the bottom track would do the trick if you don't have the latching pulls.

A little different as I don't have the sliding closet doors: I have two sliding doors to separate the front bedroom from the rest of the TT. They have those flexible clear plastic tie downs that snap onto the doors. Often after we arrive at the CG I find one or both have come loose. I'm seriously thinking about removing the doors and replacing them with nice curtains that slide on a wooden rod.

A tension rod would also work to keep them open...or closed while traveling.

There are tons of fasteners available for any application. Search the internet or go to a good hardware store. The DIY is usually simple.

One of the things we do to a new rig is replace most door/cabinet/drawer fasteners with ones that will actually work

We use tension rods.

Well duh. I feel dumb. The tension rod is a simple, effective, and cheap fix. Thanks, all

Most RV dealers carry little plastic latch gizmos that keep the doors closed. 4 screws for each door and your set, until the plastic breaks. My '07 Cardinal came with them installed, but Forest river must now need to save the $5per unit.

I had the same problem. The little plastic guides wouldn't hold up so I bought a 6' long bracket for metal shelves for my bottom track guide and 4 drawer 1/4" offset drawer guide rollers and made my own track. If my camper wasn't in the shop I would take pictures of it. It works great

My plastic holders broke on a trip so I took the bed pillows and put them down over the track on one side with the doors open. Seemed to ride just fine until I could get home and get new plastic holders.

We have a 43' Forest River Sierra 5th wheel and are full-timers, so the rig gets a lot of vibration and shaking. We also have sliding closet doors in the nose of the rig. There should be a pin stop in the upper track about 5" off from the center of the track (the point where the 2 doors come together). This "pin" prevents the rollers on the top of the sliding doors from moving past the center line. In my rig it was just a flimsy screw that sheared off very quickly. Two pins are required - 1 for each door. Replaced with a stronger (screw). Problem solved.

The bottom of the doors was the problem. Item's stored in closet would shove bottom of doors out of plastic guides on bottom. I made a track, like on top to secure doors.

Small Bean Bags to keep closet doors wedged during transit

After removing the upper face plate to access the hanging mechanism that dislodged from one of the closet doors after a particularly horrific bumpy road in order to get the door back on track, I decided that I was not going to have to do that repair again.

I used four bean bags (from our corn-hole game boxes) for each side and shored up the doors to stay open and not flop. So far so good.

Had the same problem, tried a few things and now use two spring loaded curtain rods from wal mart. Place them at the bottom of each door with a little tension. Works great
