Tinted my side door window

I saw there is a window kit to replace the frosted clear windows from CW. They wanted $150 + shipping. I went to my local glass shop, ordered a tempered clear glass to specs, tinted myself. Cost me $29. Glad I did this, not only did I discover a leaking window seal I knew nothing about, now I can see outside clear as can be. Now to do the 2nd door.

Did you use seal tape or silicon to seal window? and if you used seal tape is it available at hardware store or is it special order. Looks nice my wife would like to do this to ours.

I used the crystal clear silicon. The window sealer that was on there was dried up and cracked. So that's why I used the silicon instead. Figured it would survive better than 2 years.

How about the heat? Is the RV cooler than it was or was that not part of your objective?

Replaced door glass

I replaced the glass in both doors of my Rockwood Fifth wheel two years ago. I used GRAY tempered glass to filter out UV and heat. I also added a
silver backed window tint on each glass so I could see out but no one can see in. Works great, the cost was $18.00 per door from my local glass shop.

Hard to see in

Hard to see in at night. With the awning down and my fifth wheel sits high up, a person has to almost stand on the top step to see in. I used a silver tinted back tint on the inside of the glass.

Not sure yet. The tint is supposed to have some heat rejection. I doubt this will make any difference overall since its a small window. As for nighttime privacy I use a silver lined cover that has Velcro on it.

Here's what we did:

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ilm-82733.html

1. Cheap
2. Effective
3. Private
4. Sweet Wife reaaally likes it. (and we all like a happy camper)

You can't see out of it, but that wasn't one of our objectives. Just reducing uncontrolled heat and light coming into the trailer.

I really like that Chewie. I thought of the ERWIN:
RV Entry Doors

But couldn't stomach the $150 price tag.

This is a great idea.

Yea, the $150 price on Clear view was ridiculous. For less than half the cost of 1, I did both doors.

Is your second door straight to the bathroom? What are you doing for privacy back there?

Yea, it is. I was trying to find magnets with 2 sided tape and use those along with the silver reflective cover for the window.

I wonder if normal miniblinds could work- kind of like some home doors have where they're anchored at the top and bottom.
