Tire swap

Swapped rubber on my sabre today.
I can't imagine how they figure these constancy are 10 ply...
Softest tires I've seen.
I replaced them with 14 ply Samson GL285T.
105 psi max.
Rims are stamped 110 psi.
Inflated to 95 psi.

In true FR fashion.... There were extra parts included!! Lol.

The nice assembly line fellas at Sabre left me a pair or wire cutters and a whole spool of 14g red electrical wire in the basement behind the false wall. I have not checked the hidden compartment inside the tires!

Is FR doing there own tire mounting? I would think they would get them already mounted but maybe not?

I can't imagine FR is. My guess is those treats are from Lionshead.

That would be my guess.
I just found it funny.. I was rolling the tire into the shop, and I hear something rolling around inside!

I still can't get over how soft those contstancy tires are.... No wonder they go kaboom...

Kenny, you're making me even more afraid of the Constancy's on my rig than I was before. Guess I need to revisit the Maxxis upgrade I was considering…

Are you selling them on Kijji to save recycling fees? Some landscape trailer could use them. I sold my old Pirellis from the F 150 for $350.00. One had a plug in it.

What's even scarier is that mine are LRD. Obviously I'm hauling less weight, but still..... I am rolling real close to 10K total trailer weight.

Tires haven't had the number of "ply" since early 60's with the introduction of higher strength body cord materials. "Load Range" is proper terminology.

If you were hanging from a clif which would rather have 10 cords each with breaking strength of 18# or one cord with breaking strength of 300#

Un-inflated tire sidewall stiffness is essentially meaningless measure of tire strength, ride or puncture resistance.

Uh huh...

The load range e tires were labeled 10 ply.

The new Samson tires were labeled 14 ply.

I sat my 300lb butt on the Samson and barely made a dent.
That tells more than enough.

I’ll bet the sidewall on a LRE has something like this on it with the “PR” meaning ply rating.

http://www.irv2.com/photopost/showfull.php?photo=27064

This is a sidewall description. All tires have this type of information.
