Looks the same as the Pace Edwards Roll-Top and BAK RollBAK, but for $500-700 more. The Pace is probably the best looking of the three though, IMO (and the cheapest).

I had the PE Jackrabbit on my last truck for 8 years and it held-up well. Only complaint was that the aluminum oxidation would bleed through the vinyl and make it look grey/faded instead of black. My newer truck has the PE Full Metal Jacket and looks/works great. On both I usually locked it at the first position and there is no way the 5er pin could hit it.

I've had the BAK on my previous truck and it doesn't even come close in comparison. The BAK leaks, jams, has a nasty pull and strap to close, only closes in 3 intermediate positions, freezes shut in the winter. None of these issues with a Retrax. The Retrax Pro is also completely aluminum and no vinyl. Superficially, they look the same. A detailed examination shows significant differences.

I don't understand the rolltop covers. You lose almost a foot of your box and they work like crap in snow and ice. I guess if you lived in the south it might make sense.

i am still holding out hope for a detailed and scientific answer, but as of yet i have only recieved a reply questioning my usage of free time, and making fun of me. LOL...gotta love your intellectual circle of friends!

it was something along the lines of (condensed and re phrased )

"this crap again? you have too much free time or too much beer....bla, bla, bla.....whats next? asking if using duct tape to apply farting snails to your cab will increase gas mileage".....

The whole "lost space" issue is why my dad went the BAK F1 direction. He want's to get the BAKBox though for chains, tools, straps and recievers since GMC doesn't have the storage under the rear seats for them. With the BedRug it's like a nice big trunk back there, lol.

If your dad is after storage under the seat check out www.du-ha.com. Pretty neat setup but the bakbox may be cheaper. This is just another option.

That is pretty awesome. I will let him know about that one. It is a bit cheaper actualy. The du-ha you posted is almost $60 cheaper than the BAKBox. Thanks!

Love my BAKflip! It does leak a little at a couple spots, but not enough to bother me.
