Tornado Rotary Tank Rinser

I recently purchased a Tornado Rotary Tank Rinser for my Wildwood. The instructions say to mount opposite of the outlet. The way my tanks are situated, the opposite end is covered by the frame rail. Would it hurt to install it on the side of the tank as far towards the end as I could?

I installed mine on the drain side. It's the only place I could mount it. It works fine. Does a very good job flushing the tanks.
As a note, I did drill the holes out a bit larger in the nozzle to create more flow.
Test it by connecting to a garden hose before installing to check the spray pattern.

Thanks for the information. I'll take your advice about the enlarging the holes as well.

I had to install the tornado on the same side as the dump valve. That was the only place I had accessible.

I had a tornado installed when I purchased my trailer.

In uses, I dump both gray and black water tanks. Then close the dump valves and flush with the tornado for about a minute, before opening the dump valve. This approach seems to clear material stuck to the bottom of the tank.

Every tank has its (Own) way of cleaning, dumping, flowing. Placement of rinsing device, angle of tank at dump station, fore & aft, water pressure applied to rinsing device,Ect. Place a Clear elbow at discharge and try different methods, you will see the results! Youroo!!

I installed the Tornado about 1/2 way back on the side of the tank because the opposite end was not accessible either. It works awesome.

Here's what I do...

1. Empty black tank
2. turn on tornado for about 5min(usually lots of toilet paper still comes out)
3. shut black tank valve and let tornado put a couple gallons in
4. Open grey valve to clean out sewer hose

This usually works well for me...

I have installed several of the Tornado tank rinsers. I have always tried to put them in the center of the tank on the side. Outlets for the drain have always been on the end. This has worked well for me. Honestly I would not be without the Tornado. In my opinion it is one of the best mods you can do.

Seems this mod isn't getting great reviews on Amazon. A lot of people are saying the head will barely rotate when water is hooked up. Anyone else seen this issue with theirs?

I have had them on three different trailers and have never had a issue with any of them. My guess is faulty installation.

They're are saying they test them before installation and they don't work like they should.

I have been contemplating this mod as well for my Surveyor 255RS. I think the only viable spot to mount is near the sensors. I think I have seen pictures of others doing this but are there any concerns with this.

From some internet reading, some have said that water pressure has destroyed the nozzle and broken things off inside the tank. Should a pressure regulator be added or is it just a matter of controlling the hose pressure at the valve?

Thanks

I have read that too but have not had any issue yet. The directions even state to turn water on gradually. I have just turned it on slowly and up to about 3/4 of the way on. This has worked great for me. You can actually hear the nozzle spinning and spraying in there.

The city dump station that I use has seriuos pressure on the water hose. I have yet to have a problem. As Blake mentioned, I turn the water on slowly. I would not be without my Tornado. One of the best mods you can do.

I too could only mount it in the side of the tank. I have the quickie flush (no spinning assembly). I installed it toward the back of the tank on the side. works great. I would always install one in any black tank!

Finally got around to putting in the Tornado mod. No more wands and hoses to drag through the TT. I'll let the silicone dry and test it out tomorrow. I'm not that crazy about the flimsy hose it came with. Seems to want to kink easily.
