Trailer high off of the ground
I have a 294BH and it seems really high off of the ground. The outdoor kitchen is unusable for my GF and kids due to the height. Are there any light weight platforms that I can buy, or has anyone made anything to help with this?

What about an aerobic step riser? They are light weight, adjustable height and fairly cheap. I've seen about a million of them at various garage sales and thrift stores over the years.

Good idea, I was hoping for something bigger, but that'll work if needed.

We have had the same problem as you with the outdoor kitchen. Some of the sites that we have camped at are so sloped from front to back that when you level up the trailer the outdoor kitchen upper cabinets are unreachable from the ground. We carry a 58 quart YETI type cooler (any cooler will work) with us that we use to stand on.

I was thinking of grabbing a piece of plywood and throwing it in the bed of the truck, then when we get there, prop it up on plastic crates. I'm not worried about the weight, it's finding a place to store the crates. I was hoping someone knew of a folding type platform.

Make your platform. Use the plywood and make some swing down legs that will lock in place. I have an idea for one that would fold flat. I'll see if I can't draw something up for you a little later.

That's a great idea Aquaman, not sure why I didn't think of that. Thanks Chaps2018, 2 of those would work well for what I need. The platform with folding legs is probably the route I'll go. If I could find a heavy duty folding table, I could cut the legs shorter and use that. The problem with that, is that most tables don't list the load limit.

I have an aluminum platform that I use while working around the house. Folds somewhat flat. This is a similar product from Home Depot. This is more pricey than the one I stumbled across a few years ago, but this is basically it:

I bought a cheap work platform also from Harbor Freight it was about 20 bucks or so. Very similar to the HD one but cheaper and maybe not quite as well built. We now use it for a side step for the front door stairs. My wife is somewhat short, but this helps a lot with the in and out of the main door.

This is something I had in mind. All built out of plywood. Legs would hinge up and then supports would hinge into place locking the legs and adding support for the platform. To get a little fancy, you could mount the piano hinges to the bottom of the supports and router a groove in the platform for the hinge pin to sit in.

That looks like it'll work, thanks! I've also thought about getting a folding twin bed frame and cutting the legs a little shorter, then putting a thin piece of wood on the top of it. I have to do some measurements when I get home.

How about a plastic pallet or two. They're about 6" high and pretty light.
You could also get a portable stage. They're a little higher and they take apart.

Those folding aluminum platforms are great for painting walls, etc. I have one. But they are not very stable, especially on the ground. I wouldn't want my wife or grandkids trying to stand on it outside. Just an fyi.

Thanks for all of the help and great suggestions. I ended up going with this.

It will go the length of my outdoor kitchen, and when I'm "storing/traveling", it will strap to the top of my truck tool box out of the way. Plus it was fairly inexpensive. Thanks again!

That looks like a decent solution. Once she uses it you may be buying another one though!
